One cool, Spring evening in New York City, a young woman named Nora was just sitting in her bedroom, bored out of her wits. She had done all she had planned this past afternoon; she did her daily chores around the house, went out shopping, and she even played some video games for awhile. Now she sits on her bed, in extreme boredom.

Man, there's hardly anything to do on a Saturday evening. She thought. I mean, what can a single girl like me do?

Then, she heard her cell phone ring a tuneful jingle; she picked it up and answered. "Hello?"

"Hey Nora, whatcha doin?" A voice answered in an excited tone.

"Nothing. Why?" Nora sighed.

"Well, your luck's about to change, wanna go to Club New York tonight? All the superheroes of New York are gonna be there."

"Well... why not? Better than staying here and doin' nothing."

"Great! Better bring a date or something, things are gonna get HOT!"

A date? Nora hadn't gone out with anyone since high school; nor has she befriended anyone since... or did she? Just about five years ago, she befriend a peculiar man who somehow kidnapped her during a random bank robbery. Since then, she had most of her nerve to approach the man with caution, and he would sometimes get a little agitated by her arrival; but in the end, the man grew fond of her and seemed she was the only companion he had in a very long time.

Nora knew where her friend usually hangs out, so she quickly prep herself up the best she could; she placed on her blue jeans, a nice black top with spaghetti strings, and placed on her high heeled shoes. She grabbed her coat and finally rushed out of her apartment; she took a cab and the driver took her out of the Chelsea area and drove to East 56th Street where the cab stopped at the end and dropped Nora off.

Nora came up to an old, abandoned building and carefully walked inside. It was so dark and chilly in this building, but she walked as casual as she could; until she heard this smooth, yet loud creak coming from above her head. At first, Nora felt some strange chills flowing through her veins, but she quickly recovered and continued walking. Then, that same creak came again, only this time it was starting to come towards her.

SkreeeeTHUMP! SkreeeeTHUMP! SkreeeeTHUMP! SkreeeeTHUMP!

Nora didn't want to turn, but seemed as if she recognized these strange sounds; so she finally, but slowly turned her back and saw a very tall, dark figure standing ten feet from behind, motionless. Then, in an instant, four large tentacle-like objects sprang up from the figure's back side and quickly grabbed Nora from around the waist. The figure then picked her up and just as it was about to attack her, Nora cried in fear.

"Otto cut it out! It's ME! It's NORA!"

The figure somehow recognized Nora's cry then finally put her down, five feet close. Then its dark arms slithered away from her.

"Sorry I snuck in quietly like I usually do, but you know how I am." Nora replied, recovering herself from that sneak attack.

The figure then came into the moonlight that was shining through the broken rooftops, letting Nora see its appearance. This was, indeed, a very tall man; he wore a very long jade green trench coat, looked no more than his early fifties, and slithering around his body were four, massive, snake-like mechanical tentacles. This was the infamous Otto Octavius, alias Dr. Octopus or Doc Ock for short; though for more comforting reasons, Nora just plainly calls him Otto.

"Why are you here once again?" Otto asked, agitated.

"I just wanted to come by and ask if you'd like to go out clubbing with me." Nora replied, calmly.

"Go what?"

"Y'know, go out to party at bars and dancing."

"Dancing?"

Otto couldn't remember the last time he went dancing since his fatal accident, but he replied. "No, I refuse to partake in such frivolous activity."

"Oh come on, Otto," Nora pleaded. "It'll be fun. We'll just go out as friends."

"I don't have fun, and how in that little mind of yours think you and I are 'friends'?" Otto replied, annoyed. "No one in their right mind would ever befriend a monster like me."

Nora couldn't believe what Otto just said. Is this what he believes? She doesn't think so.

"Otto, for one thing, you at least need to have some fun in your life; you may be a grouch ever since your accident, but come on, at least live your life for once; be thankful that you're alive and well. Second, I think you're a friend because throughout most of my life I had people using me as if I were a guinea pig; and aside from your mechanical arms to talk to, I'm the only human companion you have that really respects you and understands you. I believe deep down inside, you know I give you comfort when no one else does. Please come with me, just for tonight, and afterwards I won't have to bother you again for awhile."

Otto, standing there with his brown eyes fixed straight at Nora, then took a moment to think. His mechanical arms slithered around his head then talked about that little speech Nora just gave.

She may be a pathetic human, One arm spoke. But she seems to have a strong feeling for you. Perhaps this once we could amuse her with these peculiar activities she talks about.

"Though she is right, I could live my life for once." Otto replied.

So, Otto turned back towards Nora and spoke with a sardonic tone. "All right, I'll go with you."

Then Nora jumped with excitement and started hugging Otto tightly.

"Okay, okay, will you stop it?" Otto cried, pushing Nora away.

"Sorry, couldn't help myself." Nora replied.

"Well… Where exactly do you want to go?"

"Oh, to Club New York at West 43rd Street."

"Fine, jump onto my back."

Nora carefully climbed onto Otto's back as Otto started lifting up his mechanized arms to start walking out of the old building. He starts jumping from building top to building top in order to make it to the club.
