Love in the Milkyway pt2

An A Walk to Remember inspired poem
(telescope/cemetery scene)

In the stillness of the night
I gaze up to behold the stars and the moon so bright
I breathe deeply, taking in the midnight breeze
The air of my childhood - of pine, salt and sea

The wind hustles as I snuggle to keep myself warm
As I remember the night that she was in my arms
There we were, sitting beneath the starry sky
Just one of our precious moments, and of a love that would never die

I close my eyes as the gentle wind continued to blow
Heaving out a sigh, I then open my eyes to see everything seeming to glow
I stare again to the sky, thinking
Surprised to see a familiar star shining down on me, twinkling

I smirk as I remember when she gave me that smile
And said "I love you" as she looked deep into my eyes
Then sharing a kiss my lips can still taste
Making the most of our time, not a minute to waste

I teased her again as I held her close to me
Glad to see her face full of glee
Suddenly surprising me of the answer to a long sought question
To finally reveal her heart's deepest confession

I listened intently as I waited for her to speak
Watching her every movement, even the tiniest tweak
Finally saying the words never revealed until now
To be married in the church where my parents took their vows

I responded keenly as she heeded my request
That put my soul at ease and my mind to rest
I kissed her cheek, as she smiled broadly
The world is ours, this night only
