This is my first one-shot in my BABIES? series. This series will have 26 inserts for each letter of the alphabet. They are all about the birth of the "Gleeklets." They will be in chronological order and the pairings are: Puckleberry, Finn/Mercedes, Klaine, Matt/Santana, Chang Squared (haha like the name?), Britartie, Fabrevans, Wemma, Burt/Carole, and Beth/OC. The next one-shots will probably be progressively longer.
Disclaimer: I don't own Glee, "Sweet Caroline," "True Colors," or "Sleeping Beauty." I did make up Rory.
Proud new father Noah Puckerman peered into the quiet room full of sleeping newborn babies. A few years ago, he had vowed never to be here again, yet here he was, watching his sleeping baby. The fact that she was HIS to keep nearly brought him to tears. Well, technically she partially belonged to Rachel.
Today was a day of firsts: his first child with one Rachel Puckerman nee Berry, born on the first day of January. She would take after her mother in her competitive nature, that was clear. If anyone had told Noah Puckerman that he would knock Rachel up AFTER they had been married he would have asked him what they were smoking. Now, he couldn't imagine it any other way.
His wife, who was resting back in her room, was not the only thing running through his mind. His newborn daughter was lacking one important thing: a name. Noah and Rachel couldn't agree on one single first name. Apparently May was "too simple" and Australia was "too unoriginal" for Rachel's tastes. Likewise, Noah knew that names like "Elphaba" and "Broadway" were just asking for his daughter to get beat up. They had managed to pick out a unique middle name without fighting: Iris-Caroline. Iris was goddess like the rainbow, and the Puckermans wanted their daughter to be "beautiful like the rainbow" like the words from the song "True Colors." Caroline was from the song "Sweet Caroline," which was the first song that Noah sang to Rachel. But Iris-Caroline wasn't the right first name for his baby girl. If only he could think of something that was.
Noah couldn't tear his eyes away from his little girl. She was so serene just sleeping like that. So beautiful: his own Sleeping Beauty. Suddenly, Noah started thinking. Wasn't Sleeping Beauty an old Disney movie? And wasn't the princess's real name Aurora? It was perfect. Aurora Iris-Caroline Puckerman, Rory for short. And for about four and a half seconds, everything was perfect, until Rory started crying. Noah chuckled: his baby girl was a beauty and a singer. Every boy in the world had better watch out.
