"Why are we going on this mission and why do we have to take a reporter with us?" Eve Dwyer heard Captain Kirk questioning as she walked up to meet the crew and board the shuttle to the ship.

Commander Spock answered in his normal calm demeanor, "This is an opportunity to be a part of a historical event and Starfleet would like someone to be there to record every part of the events."

"Captains," Eve said respectfully as soon as she was upon them.

Spock looked down at Eve, thinking inside how nice it was going to be having her aboard, "Captain, this is Eve Dwyer and she'll be recording the events along with doing some interviews with us and the klingons."

Eve smiled at Kirk, used to pretending she doesn't know Spock well, "It's nice to meet you, Captain Kirk. I've never been on a Starfleet mission before and it is a true honor to be aboard your ship," she complemented, knowing her greatest strength was flattery.

Kirk grinned back at her, "Well, at least they sent us a pretty girl. Some of those reporters are rough on the eyes," he finished as the rest of the crew showed up and they boarded the shuttle together.

"Captain, I know yer' not looking forward to this trip but it'll be a right honor to serve under you one last time," Scotty said as the Enterprise came into view.

The shuttle reached the ship and the group got out and made their way to their assigned areas. Eve followed Kirk, Spock and Mccoy to the bridge. "Captain on the bridge!" a young vulcan on the bridge announced as the group entered.

"Lt. Valeris, I find it agreeable to see you again," Spock began, "Captain, she is the first vulcan to graduate first in her class."

"Sir, it would be an honor to serve as your helmsman on this journey," Valeris said as she moved away from Kirk's chair.

Kirk simply nodded as he made his way to his spot. Eve gave Spock a discreet side eye after seeing Valeris on board but quickly moved out of anyone's way so they could leave Spacedock.

"Captain?" Eve asked as they neared their destination, "What's the plan when we first meet up with the Klingons?"

Kirk turned in his chair to address her, his face looking aged with worry, "I don't have a plan. You should probably be talking to Spock, he did orchestrate this event. He's just in his quarters meditating," he finished, basically asking her to leave his bridge.

Eve simply smiled in response, "Thank you sir."

"Commander Spock?" Eve said weakly as she knocked on the door to his personal quarters.

Spock stood on the other side of the door as it opened, already back in his Starfleet uniform, "What are you going here, Miss Dwyer?"

Eve shook her head, stepping inside, "Kirk won't answer my questions and he sent me to you because you put this together. Which means we have a legitimate excuse to spend some time together, alone," she finished placing a finger gently on his chest.

Spock grasped her finger gently, "We can not be 'us' while aboard this ship even in private. If you'd like to discuss the plans for this evening we can do it back on the bridge," he finished as he let go of her finger.

Eve sighed, making a pouty face, "You're a lot more fun at home but I guess that will be fine," she said stepping back toward the door before turning back to him once more, "So, does that mean not one kiss this entire journey?" she questioned playfully. She knew it sometimes got on his nerves when she was too affectionate.

Spock shook his head, his hands together behind his back, "We shall see."
