-It's all right. You're not going mad or anything –a vague voice said suddenly-. I can see them, too.
Harry turned around and discovered a blond girl with a dreamy expression on her face sitting on one of the carriages.
-Can you? –he asked.
-Oh, yes. I've been able to see them ever since my first day here –the blond girl said-. They've always pulled the carriages. Don't worry. You're just as sane as I am.
Oddly enough, Harry wasn't sure that was of any comfort, seeing as the girl had radishes for earrings and was currently reading a magazine upside down. Seeing that it was the only carriage left, he climbed to one of the seats, followed by Ron and Hermione.
Harry was trying not to laugh while ate some mashed potatoes as he listened to Ron making fun of the girl they had met in the carriage.
-I swear, by the way she was gawking at me, I thought she was going to pounce and start looking for those wrackspurts inside my ears.
Harry snorted, making the orange juice he was drinking shot out of his nose, and Ron, Dean and Seamus burst out laughing. Harry cleaned himself with a napkin and turned to look at the girl, Luna Lovegood, sitting in the Ravenclaw table. He frowned when he saw that people sat away from her, but she looked oblivious as she ate happily.
He bit his lip before standing up and heading towards her, not noticing the puzzled looks of his friends.
-Er…hey Luna –Harry said awkwardly when he reached her.
She looked up from her plate and stared at Harry for a few moments.
-Hi Harry- she finally said.
-May I join you? –he asked, ignoring the curious looks from other students.
-That would be lovely –Luna answered nodding, and Harry sat next to her, helping himself with some food.
Luna stared at him and the cocked her head to one side.
-Are you sure you don't want to sit with Cho Chang? –she asked.
Harry almost chocked with his kidney pie as he turned beat red, and looked around him to make sure no one had heard her.
-Um…I don't…how do you…never mind- he mumbled, turning his gaze to his plate.
Luna shrugged and in that moment, the main courses disappeared and were replaced by delicious desserts.
-Have some pudding –she said suddenly, not waiting for Harry to respond and serving him a piece of the pudding.
Harry blinked at the sudden dish placed in front of him.
-Eat –she ordered and Harry automatically took his fork and began to eat. Almost instantly he felt better, and smiled gratefully at the girl.
-Pudding for the soul –she said simply, and then ignored him completely as she enjoyed her own piece of pudding.
Harry looked at her and a slow smile started to appear on his lips.
Maybe Luna Lovegood seemed a bit off and up in the clouds, but she wasn't a Ravenclaw for nothing.
