Trust

Trust, it's a very fickle thing. It's incredibly easy to lose and so hard to gain. When Quorra thought about it trust was probably one of the main things that brought Sam an Tron together. Both of them had pretty serious trust issues , but they were pretty reasonable given their circumstances.

Sam's own father practically walked out on him, his only friends growing up had been Ed and Roy, his grandparents weren't always there for him and saw him as a failure. Tron had been betrayed by his closest friends. Clu whom he thought of as a best friend had tortured him. Dyson had betrayed him, Cyrus had turned on him. And Flynn had practically abandoned him for the user equivalent of months at a time.

There were very few people Tron trusted Sam, Alan, Quorra, and Lora, and Roy. On the Grid he had trusted Yori, Ram, Flynn, Clu, Dyson, Cyrus and Beck. The first two on that list were derezzed, third was dead, fourth had tortured and repurposed him, fifth had physiologically tortured him and scarred him, sixth been corrupted and tryed to destroy him and the entire Grid, and seventh was dead. Tron was one of the few people who could say 'all my friends are dead' and be truthful .

Sam highly valued trust, people would get close to him just because who his dad was. No one wanted to know Sam, they just wanted Flynn. The person he had trusted the most was his dad , and he had left . What would stop everyone else was his logic, it was one of the key factors in his friendship with one Edward Dillinger Jr. They were two lonely little boys, no friends, famously absent fathers, they just sorta clicked. Hell, even Roy liked Jr.

Tron and Sam both trusted each other completely because then two had helped each other out of some pretty rough spots. Tron helped Sam cope with losing his father a second time, and Sam helped Tron deal with what he had done as Rinzler. As, and Tron both trusted each other with their lives. Some days they would just sit and talk, Sam told Tron stories about when he was a kid, and Tron told Sam about the old system, and Ram, and Flynn and about training Beck.

The two boys who didn't trust anyone only trusted each other
