AN: I wrote this Friday night while I was stuck in the airport, please excuse any mistakes. This is my first CSI NY fic.

Waiting

Stella stood staring at the flashing cancelled part of the departures board at the airport. Due to a huge, sudden snow storm her flight back to New York was cancelled and she was now stuck at the Houston airport all night. It figures the one time she leaves town for a case it, this would happen. As she got in line to see about getting the next flight to New York, she thought about what was waiting for her at home. She and Mac had just starting seeing each other before she left for the case in Phoenix. When they talk just before her plane took off from Phoenix, he had told her that he had a romantic evening planed for them. This thought just depressed Stella more. She continued to think about everything that had happened between her and Mac over the last few weeks while she waited in line.

After almost an hour of waiting in line, it was confirmed that she would be staying in Houston for the night. However, lucky for her they had managed to book her on the first flight in the morning. As she made her way to the gate her flight would be at in the morning, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed the very familiar number.

"Taylor" Mac answered.

"Hey, it's me. I was just calling to let you know that my flight got cancelled and I can't get one until tomorrow morning." Stella replied sadly.

"Were you able to get on a flight in the morning?"

"Ya, flight 1095 at 8 o'clock, I should be back in New York early afternoon."

"That's good to hear, Stel."

"Mac, I'm sorry that your plans for us tonight didn't work out."

"Don't worry about it, there will be other nights. Stella I got to go, Flack's here with a lead."

"Bye." Stella replied then heard the click of him hanging up. She found a chair near the window and sat down. She couldn't help to be sad about missing a night with Mac. "But then again, we waited years, what's another night." Stella thought as she stared out the window. Now all she could do is wait.
