Disclaimer: ya ya, yadah yadah. Honestly if JKR finds this, reads it, and thinks it worth sueing, I'll take it as a compliment.
ENJOY!
Save this broken soul
I sat alone in a compartment on the Hogwarts express.
The joy I felt to finally be returning to my beloved school rivaled with the relief to be escaping my emotional hurricane of a home.
Ever since my mum had died when I was in second year, I dreaded retuning home after each term. Hogwarts was my home, my sanctuary, my safe house. But over the summer I returned to my father.
But he wasn't my father. He was a cold hearted son of a squib who did the unimaginable to his own flesh and blood.
When mum died she had taken him with her, and left behind this evil wizard for me.
He was always drinking, Muggle and Wizard forms of alcohol. He hated the sight of me because I looked so much like her.
He would hit me out of anger, and then kick me on the thrill of my cries. When he was really drunk, but it wasn't very often, he would start calling me by her name, touching me.
I won't start into all he does with his magic; it is dark magic no one should be the victim of.
On top of everything, he would curse the bruising and blemishes so they take months fade and I can't remove them. His own personal branding.
My father, the one who used to put me on his knee and tickle me, he was gone.
The previous night he had come to my room in the middle of the night. Said he wanted to 'have fun with me' one last time.
He did not molest me, he never has, but the lashes on my back were still raw.
I was so engorged in my thoughts I hadn't heard the compartment door open.
Suddenly a hand clasped on my shoulder. I flinched violently and let out a muffled scream of surprise.
"Whoa, Kates, calm down; it's just me!" It was Oliver.
"Well aren't we forgetting someone?"
"Or perhaps two someones?"
I turned to see Oliver Wood sitting beside me, and the twins standing at the entrance.
"Hello boys," I greeted, "have a nice summer?"
"Why yes, my lady; indeed we did," answered George.
"Had loads of fun testing our new products. Course Ron might be a tad bitter," Fred immediately followed.
"And Ginny."
"And Mum."
"Dad too."
"Oh and Percy might be ready to hex the living bazoo out of us."
I smiled at their antics.
"I pity your family."
The twins sat down. Oliver was looking at me strangely, not ready to let go of my reaction quite yet.
"Anyways," George continued, "we heard a scream. Was that you Katiekins?"
I stuttered, trying to think up a believable answer; I obviously couldn't tell the truth.
"Um-"
"I just started her is all." I shot Oliver a thankful grin.
Before anyone could get out another word, the compartment door opened and in strolled the remaining Gryffindor chasers.
"Hello all," Alicia Spinnett greeted, plopping down next to George, "chocolate frogs?"
She produced a rather large mound of said sweets and the twins took most.
"Ah, my lady never fails to suffice," George gloated.

I won't beg for reviews, that would be just pathetic.
But reviews are ALWAYS welcome ;)
