Authors Note: I just had to write this; it came to me. My first non-kingdom hearts fan fiction; so please don't kill me people. But constructive criticism is nice.

She was the one person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. And he wanted to propose to her as soon as possible. But there was one thing that was nagging at the back of his mind. ....what if she didn't accept the proposal?
He knew if he just took her to someplace quiet, where they could be alone and at peace as he asked her that she would accept. That's probably the exact type of proposal she would want. But on the other hand; what if she took it the wrong way? It was possible that she might think he proposed somewhere secluded because he didn't want to be seen with her around all the priests and priestesses living in Bevelle, who would surely see her as a bad example, and certainly not someone deserving of the praetor.
What he wanted most was to propose to her right in the middle of Bevelle, surrounded by all who live there. Although it was not in his nature to create a scene out of things, he wanted all of Spira to know that he accepted her exactly the way she was, and that everyone else should too. But there would definitely be disapproving looks from many of the people. He could think of so many things that could go wrong.
Perhaps she would think he was trying to embarrass her and become angry. But she knew him better than that, didn't she? She had known him for quite a few years; long enough to know he wouldn't attempt to hurt her by doing something so cruel as to publicly condemn her, right?
Or maybe she would like to accept, but refused because of the glaring eyes that were set upon her. She never seemed to care what the people around her thought about her, but it was quite possible that this was only a guise that she wore to hide what peer pressure she felt inside. It was hardly something he could just come out and ask her about without seeming like he was prying.
And he wanted the moment to be grand and special for her. Yet he could not think of one place in Spira that would absolutely perfect for this. He once even considered announcing it in Luca; in the middle of the crowds of diverse people. There would be so many people that word of their engagement would travel fast, and there would be such a variety of people there; the Ronso, the Al Bhed, and anything and everything in-between. But on the other hand, that silly reporter girl Shelinda would be around to nose into their business. He had nothing against her, but, what kind of glorious moment could he make the proposal with a sphere recording every question and answer said? He wanted to be the highlight of every Luca citizen's day with this one question, not Shelinda's latest broadcast.
He thought of taking her to Lady Yuna's hometown, Besaid. It would be quiet there; a nice, peaceful place to propose. Maybe even take Paine into the temple when he asked her. But if he asked her there, hardly anyone outside the small island would ever know. Unless the High Summoner herself went around announcing it; after all, she was a friend of them both. But it wasn't the same when you can't witness it first hand.
Djose, Kilika, everywhere he considered just didn't have the special...something he was looking for. It had to be exactly right, someplace they would remember forever. So they could cover the old memories, good and bad. Let the past be the past and start anew; together. So they could tell their children, and their grandchildren, and everybody else.
As he made his way to where Paine stood waiting for him, he realized something. He could propose anywhere and it would be special. So long as she was with him, the rest of his life would be special.
