After Episode 11. A/N after fic.
Spoilers: No, but some very minor foreshadowing.
When no one was watching.
The only time he was close to her.
An unwritten rule. No one would judge. But it wasn't really allowed.
Oh, he was always close, always nearby. Always the shadow. But only when no one was watching would he make his presence felt.
The others took him for granted. Already, Saya could sense him at her side. She, too, just expected him to be there. Where else would he be? What was Haji without Saya?
He was the one who obeyed Saya. Haji was for Saya, because of Saya. He simply was.
But this Saya had others, not just Haji. So he was only close to her when no one was watching.
No one...
Including Saya.
I hope this made sense. I've been away from writing fanfiction in general, and Blood+ especially, for so long! But I haven't forgotten. I'm rewatching all of the episodes right now, and this one popped into my head at 1:30 in the morning, at the end of episode 11.
Scene: Saya is stopped by Min as she's leaving the school, and just stands there, staring at her. David's calling to her, but she doesn't move until Haji comes up to her, says her name, and sort of escorts her off.

In other words, this is a little moment that I'm choosing to possibly make too much of.
I like trying to get inside Haji's head. I'm never sure if I'm entirely successful, but for some reason, he's always the perspective I take when I write Blood+.
I think my notes were longer than the fic...
