Azula—the prodigious princess—
Vicious, cold, cunning, calculating, controlling—
A single mistake shatters her reality.
Ty Lee and Mai, her lifelong friends, rejected her control.
A vision in the mirror—the mother who falsely loved her—
Reminding her how powerless she truly is.

Zuko—the banished prince—
Enemy to the four (minus one) elemental nations—
Never heeding the advice of his Uncle
Iroh, until the fate of the world hangs by a thread.
Traitorous, serious, sentimental—scarred inside and out.
Heir to the Fire Throne. Herald of peace and kindness.

The comet skims the atmosphere, ice and rock set ablaze—
Parting the clouds and lighting the sky with fire.

The prince and princess locked in enmity—
"The showdown that was always meant to be."

Azure waves of flame crash against golden embers,
One blast born from crazed aggression; the other from inspiration.

The better bender, plagued by doubt and insecurity,
Summons a thunderstorm to strike down her brother—he falls—

Sacrificing himself for the peasant he used to despise…
The peasant with the power to prevent him from perishing,

If only the incensed sister would allow it.
Cackling with madness, sparks fly from her fingertips.

The prince, thunderstruck and defeated, struggles to survive.
His ally's attacks, like insignificant raindrops against the inferno.

Azula, her mental prowess robbed by insanity,
Steps into the waterbender's trap; the world stops.
Years pass like seconds—fourteen years of villainy,
Laid to rest by the healing power of a frozen prison.
A chained dragon—her sobs could destroy a nation—
Zuko, once an enemy, saved the world by saving a friend.

So yeah. I've been in an Avatar mood lately, and decided I'd post this here. I originally wrote it as an English assignment, so the first two verses blatantly spell out "Avatar Zenith", some of the literary devices were completely contrived, and I tried to describe the show in as much detail as possible so as not to confuse my teacher. It probably just confused her even more. XD Ah, well. Such is the life of a poet.
