Addicted to Success
Music had always been Charlie's first love, his band was extremely important to him, and he lived for the success he got with it. As the years passed, and the band's amount of performances and number of fans increased; Charlie only wanted more and more. He just couldn't get enough of the thrill, of the way he felt when they played the audience's favourite song and went wild. At first, he and his best friend Liam had seemed like a great possibility to form a band; they were both very talented, and having a successful band was their life goal. But soon, Charlie's friend had started to get lost in their success. Liam simply didn't draw any limits when it concerned girls, and drinking, and it wasn't long till the band started to suffer from this. And besides, it didn't remain just girls and alcohol; Charlie was absolutely sure that he used drugs as well. Cocaine. He could tell by Liam's behaviour, and he had even caught him once. At the time this only infuriated Charlie; he simply didn't understand that Liam could do anything to put the band down! The band was their life! Later on, though, after Liam had quit the band; Charlie did understand. He understood so very well how his friend had needed the drugs to survive, to not feel the pressure of life and to get through the difficult days. He understood, because he experienced. After just a little bit of cocaine, Charlie performed so much better. It wasn't the stuff he was addicted to; it was the reaction of his body that came afterwards, the way it helped him gain success. Charlie wasn't addicted to cocaine, he was addicted to success.
