As the dust slowly settled and the screams of battle dulled he fell into dispair. He knew he was to late as he stared right into the Emeralds of green eyes he started to despise and hate with every cell of his body.
He stared right into the eyes he inherited from his mother.
He stared right into his own eyes.
The eyes of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third.
The eyes of his Doppelganger.
A manifastion of himself, that looks exactly the same or at least indistinguishable samiliar to him, bringing worry and sadnesss straight into his heart. A forseer and bad omen for Sadness and Loneliness, Longing and Dispair, Injury and Death.
A version of himself that told the tails of the end of his fellow tribesmen before they happened, with no possibility to save them from their impending doom and their familys of the sadness that comes with the loss or injury of a loved one.
A reminder of reality to him that a life was fractuable and could end quickly, way to quickly. A life long lesson that you can't escape the fate that was set for you.
He felt helpless. Who would it would be that he had lost? How many people would find their death, how often would tragedy strike before it would be his time to leave this world behind and his Doppelgangers to stop his sardistic deeds, so his mind would finally be free of the toture it had to endure.
His pupils grew widely, the look of Despair forming into something worse, way worse. It was Fear that sparkled in the green eyes of the Chief of the Isle Berk. Fear for the one he loved with all of his heart. Fear that his Doppelganger wasn't here to tell him that he will lose another member of his tribe. He wasn't fearful it would hit one of his close friends. It was not the the fear of the loss of his dragon Toothless or the death of his mother Valka in the heat of battle that glimmered in the eyes of the Chief.
The facial expression of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock changed again. He raised his head as he looked straight forward. Pure determination striking all of his features as he wisphered something: „Astrid". And he began to run.
