Nice to meet you, Rose. Run for your life!
Those two sentences. Those two simple, yet complicated sentences that started it all. She can still remember the way fear had clutched at her throat, the way the only thing she could think was that she was going to die, the way that he, typically had swooped in and saved her.
She can still remember when they went on their first adventure together. Their first proper one, in which she was his companion. The journey to the end of the world. She can still remember it all as if it happened yesterday.
She can remember all their journeys after that. From places million light years away to World War II. Eventually, she started to lose some of her original fear. The one that at first had clutched at her throat. It was still there-you're always going to be afraid when you're fighting monsters-but it wasn't as strong. She didn't need to feel as scared when The Doctor was always there to protect her.
And then it happened. He regenerated. He turned into something new and different. He had changed, in more ways than one, but it was around that time. Around when he was caught between his old self and his new self that she realized, the loved him.
Rose Tyler loved an Alien. It even sounded ridiculous. But she liked the sound of it.
So, there he was. The new Doctor. The new lovable Doctor. They had journeys too-wonderful ones. Ones that bought back that fear, but also brang back the comfort that The Doctor would do anything to protect her.
Even if that meant leaving her in a parallel world.
But it hadn't worked. She had gotten back. He had let her stay. And she was so close to spending the rest of her life with him when it all fell down. And just like that, she had lost him. Lost him because she got stuck in a different world. She was never going to see him again.
But she won't give up. She refuses to. She needs to see him again. He made everything seem alright when things could never be. He had saved her so many times, and she wasn't going to let a wall stop it. So she had tried to get back to him. She had tried so hard.
And it worked. It was the heat of battle-the world was coming to an end. If anything, she could at least try to save the world with him one last time. One last shot at protecting everything.
They did. With the help of others, of course (he really couldn't have picked a better team for the job), they saved the world. Rose and The Doctor. They saved everything.
But them. She lost him. She thought that after all she'd been through she'd be left alone again, but his duplicate was there. Even if it was never enough, he was perfect. And maybe, just maybe, she could get on without the real Doctor and his Tardis.
It doesn't stop her dreaming about them every night though.
