Finding Home
~Prologue~
"Could you at least move him to an area where he won't be killed?!"
"What's the magic word?"
"NOW, SNOWFOOT!"
Alex groaned as he felt himself being dragged along the ground, the sounds of shouts in pain and anger ringing in his ears.
"There. You should be safe here," a voice spoke, before gently lowering his shoulders to the ground. The person soon ran away, and Alex allowed his black eyes to flutter open. Bright green grass and sunlight was the first to greet him. He growled a bit as the rays of sun hit his eyes, though he quickly adjusted. He rolled over onto his side, not feeling strong enough to lift himself to sit upright. Soon, all went silent, except for the soft breeze of the wind and approaching footsteps.
"How did he get here, anyways?" asked the same voice that had dropped him here. Alex went to look at the two who were talking, but decided against it. He actually felt less pain when he laid on his side.
"How am I supposed to know?! I just got here, and a minute later, he's falling from the sky and landing on his back!" a familiar voice shouted back. The one who had asked the question only sighed.
"Maybe we should take him back to camp," he suggested. He walked closer towards Alex, who was about to roll over onto his other side to face them. "At least there we can fix his clothes."
"Oh, yay. I get to see a guy shirtless," the other person chuckled.
"Whatever... huh? Hey! He's awake!"
"What?" Now, both speakers were getting closer to Alex, until they were hovering over him.
"Holy damn! So he didn't die from that fall!" Alex was soon lifted onto his feet, stumbling to regain his balance. He finally stopped when someone wrapped their arms around his torso to keep him from falling over.
"Nice to see you're okay!" A little snow jaguar spoke, standing in front of the male on two legs. He had pure white fur with black spots, hazel eyes, and was wearing odd types of clothing. "My name is Snowfoot! I believe you're the one who was given the birth name 'Alex', am I correct?"
"Um... yeah? Uh... how are you talking?" he asked, still looking down at Snowfoot. "And how do you know my name?"
"Well, you're in the land of Tera!" he started to explain, a large smile spreading across his face. "You see, I'm a popori, a race of which is an animal that can talk and fight. And your friend behind you is an elin, a girl which is human, but has animal ears and tail! And how I know your name is also the work of the elin who's keeping you up."
"Hi, Alex!" Said boy turned around, staring at the smiling girl.
"Jennifer? What are you doing here?" he asked, removing her arms from himself.
"I could ask you the same thing," she replied, crossing her arms.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Snowfoot interrupted, making the two look at him. "Your name is 'Jennifer'?"
"Why is that important now?!" she asked, before pointing a finger at Alex. "What's important right now is either getting him back home, or getting him a suitable weapon so he can defend himself when we're not around!"
"I suppose you're right..." The jaguar smiled more, grabbing Alex with his gloved paw and dragging him down a path. "C'mon, human! Let's go get you fixed up!"
"Jennifer, you're gonna have to explain everything to me," he spoke, looking back at the girl, who only nodded as she followed them.
