Ryan walked though the halls of East High thinking about her like he always did these days. He just couldn't get her out of his mind. Most of the pages in his journal were filled with his feelings towards her. He even wrote a few songs about her too. But she was dating Chad Danforth and he knew their relationship was strong. She would never break-up with Chad for him but he wished she would. They were best friends and it was wrong on so many levels but he couldn't help staring at her when she walled down the hall. He couldn't help acting like his brain was the size of a peanut just so she would tutor him at home. He loved that her locker was right next door to his because they'd always talk a little before class started. Ryan Evans loved admitting it. He was head over heels in love with Taylor McKessie.

As he walked over to his locker he spotted Taylor crying on the freezing tiled floor and Gabriella Montez was no where in sight.

'Maybe she's with Troy or something.' He thought.

He rushed over and kneed down, asking her the same question all of us ask when one of our friends are on the floor in front of their lockers crying.

"What's wrong, Tay?" Ryan asked. She lifted her head but didn't answer his question. Instead she pointed to something in front of her. Ryan turned his head to see Gabriella and Chad strolling across the hall but Ryan didn't see what this had to do with Taylor crying on the floor.

"I don't-" Ryan paused as his brain analyzed the situation. Gabriella was walking through the halls with Chad all happy, not even caring that a 'best friend' was on the floor crying. Chad didn't seem to care either.

'Taylor and Chad must have broken up!' His mind immediately told him.

Ryan decided to comfort Taylor. He gave her a real tight bear hug that actually made her giggle and he kept telling her that everything would be alright. As he wiped away the tears rolling down her cheeks, she smiled at him. He smiled back. Before either of them could do or say anything, the bell rang and they both got off the floor and rushed to class.

After school, Ryan and Taylor did what they always did; they walked over to Ryan's house. As they walked there, Taylor was completely quiet. Even when Ryan asked her a question, she just wouldn't answer. Every 5 minutes a tear would roll down her cheek and she wouldn't even bother to wipe it away. Ryan couldn't stand watching the life of his life looking like this. He had to do something.

"Taylor, would you please stop being sorry for yourself. Chad's the one who lost out, not you! Chad's the goofball. Gabriella must have gone crazy too. Taylor, you're perfect, you're probably way out of Chad's league. Just because you dated him doesn't mean he's your knight in shinning armor." By the time Ryan finished his last sentence they were at his front door and Taylor was smiling.

Some how Ryan always made her do that. Chad never did. She realized that maybe she was looking in the wrong places for love. She had just figured out that true love was right in front of her, all along. Taylor turned her head to face Ryan and pressed her lips against his. Ryan shocked at first eased into it as it started raining. They separated and smiled, who wouldn't after they shared the very best kiss of their life. As they entered the Evans' household, giggling and smiling, on thing crossed both of their minds. I can't wait to rub this into Chad's face tomorrow.
