AN: I finally passed over my stories. Visit Lilly's bravenet site, faoll.bravejournal .net later on after she posts her own stories (right now it's just a diary but she says she writes Anita Blake too so yea! And Buffy and Angel and Harry Potter but I love Anita Blake!) I like her diary, it's super cool!

Darla watched down on the hotel from her resting spot in the heavens, her hair brushing down across her face in a soft blond cloud. The interior of the hotel looked hazy though the sparkling pond of crystalline water she peered into as she searched for some time in vain to catch a glimpse of her son.

"Come on Connor..." She crooned softly in her deep sugary voice, "where are you..."

"He's not there."

Darla turned quickly, a swift movement that swept her ivory gown around her in a silky wave. Before her stood the recently deceased Cordelia flanked by the shy witch Tara.Darla laughed, a disbelieving sound. "What do you mean 'he's not there'? I've watched my son every day for the last year. I was only gone for a few months."

Cordelia sighed, angry and disapproving. "Apparently Angel found it fitting to make him a new life. One where he has a sister, and two parents, and a girlfriend." She rolled her eyes and scowled.

Sitting promptly by the glassy pond Darla was alarmed." Where is my son now?"

Cordelia smiled reassuringly and Tara made her way over to Darla, her head bowed in shyness toward the former vampire. She swept her frail fingers beneath the crystal depths of the pond and a new image slowly formed. Connor was smiling, an innocent look across his youthful features. He was surrounded by his friends and a girlfriend, laughing.

She watched her son with tears forming behind her eyes and whispered to him, "You don't remember me." Tara slipped away back toward Cordelia and the two girls left with frowns on their faces and pity in their hearts.

Darla sighed heavily, smiling as her son smiled, laughing as he made his friends do so and felt her heart break. "Connor...you have a life. A life me and your father couldn't give you." She smiled, her tears falling into the pond. "I love you and always will. You're my son, always and forever." She touched the image and it melted away beneath her fingers.

Down on Earth, surrounded by his friends, Connor sat laughing and joking. Out of no where a gust of warm wind wrapped around him and he felt a weird kind of peace for a moment before he became engrossed once more in the conversation he had been having.
