Why?

AN: I re-wrote it. It was just horrible! I'm sorry for doing this to you I was outta my mind or something. Here is the new one. Have fun. ILU Greg

Gibbs gave Tony his badge and gun. "You'll do. It's your team now."

Tony looked as if slapped right in the face. Gibbs didn't see that his lips trembled because he walked to McGee next.

Tonys world shattered in thousand of pieces. His mentor, boss and most important his friend resigned. He was just going to leave. With not much more than a 'You'll do."

Abby was next. "Gibbs –" She whispered and Gibbs laid her a single finger on the lips to stop her. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and then he went to McGee.

'He's leaving. Why is he leaving? I don't want him to go. He can't go. He's the boss. The guy who slaps me back to reality. He can't go.' Tony thought.

Gibbs spoke to Ziva and then asked Ducky for a ride. Together they went to the elevator. Gibbs didn't look back. And then he was gone.

The tears made their way down. Abby was sobbing hard. Her hands covered her face as she shook uncontrollably.

'Oh yeah, the second 'b' sure stand for bastard!' Tony thought angrily. "McGee! Take Abby home and make sure she's okay! Ziva, take the director home."

"Where are you going?" McGee asked as he took Abby in an embrace. He got no answer. Tony was already running down the stairs.

Gibbs stood in his basement drinking whiskey. He thought about Abby. How sad she was. How hard she cried. McGee. He just stood there, mouth agape. Ziva. Gibbs wondered if she'd know. Then his thoughts drifted to Tony. His senior field agent… ex-senior field agent took it good. Too good…

Suddenly his basement door banged open. Tony stumped over to where Gibbs stood. Anger blazing in his eyes.

"You bastard! Can you imagine how much pain you cause them?! Can you?! You're such an asshole, Gibbs! You don't know how much I hate you for doing this!" Tony began to walk away but turned around to Gibbs again. The fist connecting with his jaw, caught Gibbs by surprise.

Did Tony just hit him? Before Gibbs could react, Tony went back up the stairs. Gibbs rubbed the spot at his chin and then he shook his head. Tony was about to walk out of the basement door as Gibbs found his voice.

"Tony?" No reply.

"DiNozzo."

"Tony!"

Tony didn't turn back once. He acted like he didn't hear Gibbs' yells.

Gibbs sighed and leaned back against the counter as he wondered if Tony and the rest of the team would ever forgive him.

AN: I think this is way better than the shit I wrote before. What ya thinking? Hope you liked it. ILU Greg
