Lily and James
"Where the bloody hell are you taking me?" she asked none too politely as he pulled her along.
"It's a surprise!"
"Well I can see that obviously but that's not going to stop me from asking! Come on, you know I hate surprises, what if I don't like it?"
"Then you can look at me with those green eyes of yours and say 'I told you so'. I'm really confident you're going to like it though," he turned his head enough so she could see the smirk on his face.
"James Potter-"
"Lily Evans! Why don't you be quiet, enjoy this little moonlit walk, and accept the fact that I'm just as stubborn as you. Therefore, I will not be divulging the information of our destination no matter how you whine and complain."
"Moonlit walk? More like moonlit run! And how am I supposed to enjoy it if I can't see it? There are too many trees blocking any light coming from the heavens and I don't have the night vision you seem to have acquired from being an animagus and you didn't give me the chance to grab my wand! Why would you take me into the Forbidden Forest of all places without my wand?"
"You should keep it on you at all times Lily; these are dark times we live in! Why didn't you have it on you?"
"Because I was asleep James, that's what people do at nighttime! It was on my nightstand ready for me to grab if I needed to. Janine woke me up, told me to brush my hair and get dressed, rushing me along the whole time and then grabbed my hand when I was decent without giving me a chance to grab it, and pulls me out the door and downstairs to deposit me in your hands. Then you do the same thing!"
James gave a small sigh before holding his wand up. "Lumos," he whispered, and the tip of his wand began to glow softly.
"Thank you," Lilly huffed. "How much farther is it anyway?"
"Actually, we're basically here. See there, where the trees start to thin out? There's a large clearing just beyond it. With the moon almost full it'll be well lit. There are cliffs, and a waterfall too."
"I see. And a waterfall? I didn't know there were waterfalls nearby!"
"Well, since we're technically not supposed to go into the Forbidden Forest, you wouldn't know, would you?" he asked as they emerged into the clearing.
Lily, whose turn you might notice is hers to say something, was rendered speechless by the sight before her.
"Do you like it?" James finally asked her.
She nodded. "It's beautiful James! The way the moonlight turns everything to silver, the waterfall, everything! Thank you for bringing me here," she said the last part softly.
"I'm sorry I think I missed that last bit. Care to say it again?"
"I said thank you for bringing me here."
"I'm sorry, one last time?"
"James!" she said with a laugh, turning to face him. "Fine. I said thank you. Thank you for scheming with Janine to get me downstairs to you, thank you for this whole adventure, and thank you for putting up with all the complaining you knew you'd hear from me, just to show me this place," she finished.
"You are welcome," he said with a smile, leaning down to give her a small kiss. "Lily?"
"Yes James?"
"Will you marry me?"
