Dear somebody,
Once upon a time there was a strong, beautiful girl named Emma. Emma grew up an orphan and was constantly being shuttled between different foster homes. In one of her more permanent homes, she met a boy. The boy, let's call him Captain, had a brother who died. Both were extremely bitter, Captain over his brother's death, Emma over her parent's abandonment. They didn't have much in common except they were both abandoned, and soon after a reluctant friendship, they fell in love. Captain and Emma stayed in love until their high school graduation; Emma had decided to enroll in the police academy while Captain took a very different life. With no direction and Emma gone, he found a life of drugs, lust, and thievery.
Well, one day Emma and her partner, who had grown to be a father figure to her, David, were called in for a robbery. They raced down the road with their blue and red police car lights flashing frantically until they reached the building. Upstairs, a scared Captain cursed and locked the door of the room he was in. He held up the door with his back, expecting the worse: there was no way out, he had to fight. David and Emma roared up what seemed like endless stairs until they reached the door. It only took one twist of the door handle to elicit 3 gun shots. One in the chest, one in the heart, one in the head. He had shot David.
"No!" Emma screamed, holding back tears. Enraged she charged through the door, not caring about the consequences of such an action. When she saw the familiar face, she gasped. His jaw dropped slightly and Emma's eyes continued to well up with tears. They both had guns pointing directly at each other.
"Why, Captain?" Emma said as a response to the silence that seemed to trap them. "David… He was the closest thing I had to a father" One of the tears she was fighting freed itself and slid down her cheek. Captain, at seeing his Emma cry, dropped the gun and fell into her with flowing eyes.
"Emma," he breathes into her hair, his voice full of regret and longing. He looked up into her eyes, into the memories of love that they both shared. "I lo-"
He is interrupted by one gunshot to the heart. He falls to the ground, pain etched on his face. Emma falls to the floor next to her beloved Captain and begins to cry. She touches his face one last time as she remembers the moment she had to give up her only child, whose father was unknowingly Captain's
Love,
Henry
