IRONIC:

I'm dying. Lying here on the cold, hard sidewalk, the falling rain battering at my broken body, with my life leaking away, and all I can think of is how ironic it is to die like this. After everything we've been through, the countless times we've saved the world, just a small bunch of everyday teens battling against various all-powerful megalomaniacs…

And I get killed by a drunk driver on my way home from the movies. (Typical!)

There's no sign of stars tonight, the dark, heavy clouds are blocking out all the light. I vaguely notice how my blood swirls as it gets washed away by the downpour. It's pretty, with the dark crimson making a stark contrast to the dull gray of the road. I know there are other people there, I can hear them screaming and yelling. I think someone is calling my name but I don't know who it is. Colours flash, blue and red, shining brightly. There is a strange wailing noise. It's irritating. Why can't they be quiet and just let me sleep?

The pain is fading now. Funny, I didn't realize just how much I was hurting. My brain is feeling foggy and the sounds are getting fainter. Perhaps they decided to let me have a little peace after all. But no, someone is there, calling me. I open my eyes and sit up.

He's there. But how? He's in the afterlife. I watched him walk through those gates myself. It doesn't matter. He reaches out a hand and I grasp it. He pulls me to my feet and smiles, his eyes (the colour of my blood) sparkling in the soft glow surrounding us. There is no pain now.

I look back once at the scene below us. It's chaos, with ambulances and police cars, people milling around in confusion, a small group huddled around something lying on the pavement. They are crying and I want to comfort them, to tell them everything's going to be okay, but it's time to go. I turn back to him and he nods, beckoning me. Smiling back at him, I follow as he leads me into the light.

AN: Who died? It's your interpretation. I like to think that Atem would come to fetch Yugi when he dies, seeing as how they are 2 halves of the same soul. It makes sense that they would be in the afterlife together, but hey, it's your call. Might be a second chapter if I can make up my mind.
