The Gone Turnabout
'Mum? Can I go to Miles?' eight-year-old Phoenix Wright asked.
'First finish your lunch, Phoenix. After that you can go,' his mother answered.
As fast as he could, little Phoenix ate his lunch. 'Be at home at half past five!' his mother shouted from the kitchen. She was too late, the little boy had already vanished.
To reach Miles' house, Phoenix passed their school.
'Nick!' Someone called him and he turned around. There was Larry; his classmate and friend. He ran to him, waving his hand in the air.
'I just wanted to go to Miles. Do you want to come with me?' Phoenix asked him.
'Sure thing!' Larry answered and together they walked into the street where Miles lived.
'Here it is!' Phoenix said with enthusiasm. Larry rang the bell, but after a while, still nothing happened.
'Did you push the bell hard enough to actually hear the sound?' Phoenix asked Larry.
'Yes, I did!'
Now Phoenix tried and rang the bell. Still no response. 'But Miles said that he was going to be at home this afternoon…, ' the boy with the sparked hair said.
'Well, if he isn't home…shall we go playing at your place then?' Larry proposed.
'Yes, I guess so…,' Phoenix answered and Larry heard the disappointment in his voice.
'Are you the boy's friends?' A woman walked towards them.
Larry and Phoenix looked at each other. 'How was that sweet little boy called again? M-Mi-Miles it was, right?' She was thinking.
'We are his friends!' Phoenix said proudly and smiled. 'Well, then it's hard for me to say…but… they left an hour ago.' The boys didn't understand.
'Left?' the two boys asked at the same time.
'There was that man, it was certainly not his father, who took him and all the furniture away. The house is empty now. I saw it all happening. I'm sorry for you little kids,' she said with sorrow.
'But.. Miles would have told us! He wouldn't have left like that!' Phoenix sounded sad.
'So… he will not come back?' Larry whispered.
'I don't know of course! I am just tellin' you what I saw,' the lady said.
There was a silence.
'Can I do anything for you kids? I wasn't aware that it has such an impact on you two.'
The two boys shook their head in reply.
'Be strong, you will see him sooner or later.'
Phoenix and Larry didn't understand what the last sentence meant, but when years later Phoenix opened a newspaper and saw an article about a certain demon prosecutor, he knew exactly what the woman was talking about.

A/N Hello everyone, perhaps I will write a second chapter for this. When I wanted to upload it I suddenly got the new idea that Miles hid a letter near the entrance of his house explaining the situation a bit. He wrote it when Von Karma ordered the movers to put the furniture in the van. Not sure if I will write it though, I just thought of it.
AND I collected all of my written fanfiction one-shots of Ace Attorney from 2011 and I uploaded most of them. I still have some left, I will upload them soon. But in the meantime enjoy the other cute one-shots and feedback is always appreciated. Did you find a grammar mistake? Something I overlooked? Please let me know! Thanks in advance!
