Poem Name: Endless Roads
Summary: It's a lonely path/that endless road/that you follow blindly/as it unfolds. (Or a sad poem to release my feelings about the finale and summer hellatus.)
A/N - this was originally going to be Destiel fluff to help everyone through the season finale and summer hellatus, but my emotions took over, and it is now another depressing thing to add to the ten story tall tower of all the other depressing things in my life... (And just for your information I have no idea how to format poems, freestyle or otherwise, so if I have violated any important laws, please let me know.)
Anyway, thanks for taking time out of your day to read this poem and I hope it's worth it!
It's another nondescript drink
in a nondescript bar,
as you try not to think
about the road so far.
It's a lonely path,
that endless road,
that you follow blindly,
as it unfolds.
The future reeks of it,
of corners and bends,
and of rotting corpses,
the anonymous dead.
Brothers by blood,
turned to brothers in arms,
and brothers in tombstones,
before too long.
The sacrifices you have made,
the boundaries you have stretched,
who knew the Righteous Man
was such a bitter wreck?
What would Mommy think of you?
What would Daddy say?
Remember when their kisses
kept monsters away?
With a demon at your shoulder,
and the Devil in your head,
those pretty, pretty eyes of yours
turn cold and hard and dead.
So knock another shot back,
feel it in your chest,
let it burn the thoughts away,
let you fade in with the rest.
Let the burden slip away
under linen sheets,
just like the good old days,
of fighting monsters in the streets.
And when Death does come to greet you,
when he comes to take you home,
welcome him with open arms,
while your legacy lives on.
(I may have a thing with Dean dying a hero...)
