SANDI'S LAMENT

Not that it matters
I play the Lawndale High approval games
As my popularity is torn to shreds and tatters.
Tiffany dithers and Stacy natters;
Quinn undermines and pretends she only chatters,
Not that it matters.
Any boy on dates only flatters
In the locker room it's me he shames
So my reputation is all in shreds and tatters.
Mother tells me popularity is all that matters,
I must make greater and greater gains
Not that it matters.
I exemplify every fashion trend which flatters,
I volunteer, 'Use me, put me in chains'
But my popularity is all in tatters.
I'm not that smart, without my looks my self-esteem shatters
While unfashionable girls are recognized as brains.
Not that it matters,
My popularity torn to shreds and tatters.

AN: This is the first serious poem I have tried to write for some time. I am not completely satisfied with my effort but I wanted to post it before the end of 2015. I may return to working on this at some point and any suggestions are welcome.

"Not that it matters." is a Sandi quote from Just Add Water, season three, episode twelve.

In terms of timing in canon I see it as internal dialogue of Sandi Griffin at almost any point but most particularly during

Fat Like Me. After that episode her attitude towards Quinn mellowed.
