Prologue

It was that sound again.

That stupid, annoying mewling sound.

In the middle of the goddam night.

Again.

"I swear Bonks, if that is you I will skin you aliven and feed the meat to the mice..." Muttered the brown haired woman as she got out of her soft warm bed. The cold concrete floor under her toes made her crinch. She really wished she'd had unpacked her slippers, but no. she had been too tired to unpack anything else but the kettle, bag of teamix and a cup. Moving was such a drag.

Her ears perked when she heard the mewling again.

"Bonkers, here kitty kitty.." She called her tabby cat, but he was nowhere to be seen. "Come on Bonks, stop playing around. It's.. "She checked the watch on her wrist she had forgotten to take off, "fifteen past three in the goddamn mornig." She made her way to the kitchen. "Bonks?"

The mewling grew louder as she reached the livingroom. No cat though. Since the room had no other furniture but the rug on the floor infront of the old fireplace, and the woman got a terrible idea of her pets whereabouts. It was confirmed by a small meow as she got closer to the wallmounted piece of luxury she had fallen in love when she had first seen it. "Don't tell me you crawled into the chimney.." She pinched the bridge of her nose. "Bonks, you idiot."

The fireplace was large enough for her to crawl in on all fours, so that's exactly what she did. She felt around and up with her hands to feel the damper in place. No way the cat had managed to get through the cast iron plate. She sat down, already covered in old ash and soot. And then she heard the mewling again. It was coming from behind her. "What the...?" She turned around to see a room behind her. Her blue eyes grew wide. That's not possible, she tought, the house stops at the wall with the fireplace. She knew it. And yet, there was a room, behind her.

Curious as always, she reached out with her hand. Maybe it was a picture. One of those cool 3D images.

"Nope." She whispered, her fingers met no resistance where the back of the fireplace should have been. "I'm dreaming.." She whispered to herself as she manouvered herself to the other room. "I must be.. Dreaming."

There was a bed in the other room, a cradle of sorts. And inside the cradle, under the covers was a baby. "Hi." The woman cooed. "Are you here all alone?" She looked around. The baby mewled pathetically, reaching his tiny hands towards her. "Shh shh, it's ok baby, it's ok, Linda's got you." She cooed him some more as she reached out fot the child by instinct and lifted him up. "There there, you're ok." She cradled him to her chest and gently rubbed his fluffy back.

Wait?

Fluffy?
