I Loved Her First

The song this story is based off is by Heartland.

A little Father's Day story dedicated to fathers everywhere, and remember a place in her heart will always be yours.

The rhythmic music guided the newlyweds on the dance floor, and the bride put her head on the grooms shoulder and smiled lightly, enjoying every moment of the dance.

Her father stood on the sidelines, a smile across his face as well. He remember a song by Heartland, describing the very way he felt at that moment.

As he watched her, he flashed back to the moment she was born, the cry that she gave out and the tears in her mother's eyes. It was also one of the first times he cried as well.

From the first breath she breathed

Her little hand that curled around his pinkie finger and the way she giggled when he made a face.
When she first smiled at me

The song ended and the Dee Jay requested that the bride and father "got on out there".

Her hand wrapped against his thumb the same way it did when she was a baby and he smiled at her, watching her blue eyes twinkle.

I knew the love of a father runs deep

"He's perfect," he whispered in her ear, and she blushed. She was thinking the same thing, he knew, and it was the perfect moment in each of their lives. The song started playing and he was startled to realize it was the same song he was thinking of.

And I prayed that she'd find you someday

The ceremony had be perfect, even though the bride had been frantic before hand, trying to get the flowers in exactly the right place. The colors, peach and light gold, had set the tone for the entire moment when she walked down the isle, her hair placed in an interact bun he knew her friend had put up and the way a slight blush, only enough to make her cheeks the same peach color the flowers in her hands were. He beamed, he knew he did, but he didn't care, it hid his joyful tears.

But it's still hard to give her away

The song ended and as the crowd started to move onto the dance floor as well, he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

I loved her first.
