Disclaimer: I do NOT own CSI.
Okay, so I've been trying to think of something to write all day and this is the best I could come up with.
This is my 50th fic and I wanted to write something AMAZING, but it's just not happening.
Happy Family
After waking up alone Sara gets up out of their kingsize bed and slips into her dressing gown and slippers. She quietly shuffles out of their bedroom and down the hallway, yawning. Just as she's about to poke her head into the nursery a glimmer of light from the living room catches her eye, so she continues down the hallway.
At the entrance to the room she stops and squints around the darkness.
There's a pink glitter lamp on in the corner of the room, casting shadows of all shapes and sizes over their possessions.
And then her eyes find focus on the sofa.
Tears prickle her eyes at the beautiful sight before her. She's never in her life seen a scene more touching and pure.
Her heart melts.
He's fast asleep, lying down with his head propped up against the cushions, and four week old Alyssa asleep on his bare chest surrounded by his safe and strong arms.
Slowly she walks over to the two people she lives for and crouches down in front of Gil. She kisses his head before kissing Alyssa and gently taking her from her father's embrace.
Still crouching down she tries to rouse him awake.
"Gil… wake up, sweetheart." she whispers.
He stirs a little and starts to move his arms further around his baby daughter, but when he finds his chest empty he awakes with a start.
"Sshh…" soothes Sara, smiling.
He looks around a bit dazed until his eyes land on the bundle in Sara's arms.
He smiles.
"Let's go back to bed?" she asks.
All he can manage is a slight nod of his head and a yawn as he pushes himself up.
The baby stirs in Sara's arms so Gil leans down and places the softest kiss to the top of her head, which is covered in chocolate brown curls.
"She has you wrapped around her finger."
"I..I… I love her so much. I didn't think it was possible to love someone as much as I love her." he whispers, looking almost embarrassed. "I just want to hold her forever and never let her out of my sight."
She can feel tears pricking her eyes again and she tries to blink them away without him noticing.
Too late.
"Honey, what's wrong?" he asks, wrapping his arms around his wife and daughter. "You know that I love you just the same." he smirks.
She sniffs and shakes her head.
"Nothing's wrong. We're just… we're a family now; a proper family, and I've never had a real family before.
"Oh sweetheart…"
Sara sighs and shakes her head.
"Stop. Please don't make me cry…" she whispers, holding just a little tighter to her baby. "My hormones are all over the place, if I cry I might never stop."
Gil chuckles.
"Okay. Let's go back to bed. I know what might stop you crying?"
Now Sara lets out a small laugh.
"Well… it'll either stop me or make me worse… Oh God, what if I do cry?"
"Sshh… come on."
They walk into the nursery and both kiss baby Alyssa before laying her in her cot.
"Sweet dreams, baby." whispers Sara.
"Sleep tight, Princess."
As they reach the door to leave, Sara quickly turns her head back towards to crib.
"Love you, sweetheart." she whispers, before wrapping her arms around her husband's waist and leading him towards their bedroom.
The End
Just a little naffy fluff.
