Chapter 1
Fun Fair, as if!
It was so cold.
"Day 1483 on the streets." I said to myself in a Marcus Bentley accent (Note: Voice over for Big Brother). I was exhausted and really hungry; all I had to eat was a marmite sandwich I found in the bin. I don't know why people throw them away, after your ninetieth they start to taste nice.
Okay, maybe not, but when you're hungry, you'll eat anything.
I was walking down the high street, staring up at the grey sky. The dark clouds were so low I felt claustrophobic.
I've got used to people staring at me; it comes with the scar which stretches above my left eyebrow to my cheek. I can't remember how I got it but it haunts me in my dreams at night.
Something bright caught my eye. There was nothing special about it but in the grey and dullness of the city, the florescent flyer stuck out like a sore thumb. It was plastered to the lamp post.
'FUN FAIR HERE IN TOWN!
SUN FLOWER FARM SUNDAY TO FRIDAY COME ALONG HAVE FUN'
It's the last day, hhhmmmm, na.
I continued walking down the street and there was another poster on another lamp post. I kept walking but every lamp post had one. Why have I not saw these before? I looked around, flyer, flyer, flyer, flyer, flyer.
"Fine, I'll go!" I shouted, some old lady glared at me from over her specs. She must think I've went mad.
It wasn't far to the farm but considering I had on a heavy backpack and I hadn't had lunch, I was wishing I had a car. Just two more years, not like I'll have the money, I thought
I turned the corner and there it was. There was a Ferris wheel, a Carousel, a tall ride that shoots you into the air and your stomach goes up to your ears, and many other stalls and stands. It was surrounded by a metal fence and at the front was the concession stand.
It was a fiver to get in, I only had £6.38, but something told me to be spontaneous. So I paid the money and a skinny dude with red hair and his nose pierced stamped my hand. I looked at it, usually there smiley faces but this looked like a T with a circle on top.
I went on the ride only because you had to pay extra for the rides. But my stomach was growling and the temptations of the stands of hot dogs and candy floss made my mouth water.
I rounded the corner by a teddy stall and there was a skip. Which meant food. I ran over and opened the lids. It was full of garbage but there was a burst bin bag with food coming out of it. I peeked over my shoulder to see if anyone was looking but I was out of site so I dived in.
There was a half pack of cheese and onion crisps and a half eaten banana. I was about to look further when I heard someone cough once. It was deep and short like trying to attract attention.
I looked up and a bald, quite fat man was standing at the corner of me. His eyes narrowed with disgust.
"Can I help you?"
Oh crap, I'm screwed. "Emmm, no I was looking for, emmm, my..."
"Do you know what I don't like? Liars." He started to walk towards me and I tried to get out but my bag was stuck. Not now! I was panicking and he was nearly there. I managed to pull myself free but it was too late. He grabbed my hand and turned me to face him.
Then that's when it happened.
Hey hope you liked it. I would like to thank my best friend for helping me. I've been warned not to say her name, but if you manage to find out her true identity, please read her stories. She's awesome!
