The young god had made so many promises to her that even the other deities thought it would be difficult to keep them all, but Anubis kept them nevertheless.

Until the very end

Tears were falling from her azure eyes and he felt something being crushed inside him, probably his heart, however he knew that he was doing the right thing.

- "How can you say something like this?" – she screamed, her despair was barely palpable. He wished he could smile, but he couldn't.

- "I say this because it's true, if you really loved me you would never open your heart to another man. I do not know what you feel towards me, after all who am I to decode your feelings? Maybe, you do love me, but not in the way I wish…"

She launched herself at him, crying out loud her frustrations, her pain; showing him how much it was hurting, but the dark haired man wondered - what could hurt the most: the most beautiful of lies or the saddest of truths?

Lady Kane cried herself to sleep that night and only after that he let his tears bath his face.

He whispered to her his eternal votes: that he would visit her dreams until she could dream for herself; that he would lie to her until those lies became the true she so much needed; that he would watch her from afar so he could be at peace with himself; that, at the end, he would be the one to guide her soul to the afterlife, so she would not get lost; that he would stay at her side until the day she didn't need him anymore and when not if this day comes, he will be the one crying while she'll smile sadly, continuing her story…

Because he loved her, she was the fieriest of women; the beginning, the middle and the very end of his path and there wouldn't be a day where she wouldn't be in his life.

But the Jackal God was only a guide, someone who helped people from this realm to the other. He may be a foolish being for falling in love with a mortal, however when his eyes met hers for the last time, Anubis could see she was happy…Sadie was so very happy that he let her go.

The young spitfire has learned to live without him and he has learned to live with the marks she had left in him.

OWARI

Good afternoon,

Well, I based this story on Johnny Depp's phrase: "if you love two people at the same time, choose the second. Because if you really loved the first one, you wouldn't have fallen for the second." Besides, I'm kind of frustated with the third book: two in one, really Sadie really... Báhhh!

See you,

The Good Savage.
