Sometimes a hero dies a hero...other times a hero lives long enough to witness himself become what he has always feared...a villain. He had been born with pure intentions in his short human life and yet now he is but an immortal old man slowly dying inside as his brain continues forever twisting in insanity. And the only soul left whom knows of his past can only watch helplessly as his pain drags on and as he starts forgetting himself along with the only soul.
Marceline slipped forward sliding smoothly down the large boulder she had sat upon motionless while watching the morning sun rise lighting the frozen cold world around her. Her muscles tightly clenched at the surprize cold surrounding Mr. Simon whom lay sleeping just feet from where she landed. "M-Mr Simon...?" The little girl calmly speaks while making the stomach-churning journey toward his resting place.
There is a rustle and she backs away "uh...Oh...Marceline" The man says and with that the warming glow of his smile melts the snow between them as the girl quickly runs baring herself into his chest. She begins to sob her tears steaming into the frozen air as the suffocating darkness has lifted leaving a surrounding forest come to life. The old man Twists his head and tightly pulls her toward him in an apologetic embrace.
"I...I did it again didn't i..." He asks not taking it as a question but the little girl answers anyway "It wasnt you...It was that!" She points in sorrow at the golden crown tied in knots at the mans belt. He lets her go and takes his stand his joints complain but he persists. "Marcy..." he says but she has already been well on her way walking slowly whilst kicking the snow along her path. "Look at this!" she laughs throwing the glittering jewels into the air.
The old man laughs wiping a tear from his face, he watches as it freezes and rolls off the blue tips of his fingers. Suddenly there is a nudge at his hand. "Oh come on you!" he shouts in laughter as he flings the girl upwards upon his back She shrieks with a smile and the two of them once again push on, far off to a path they create with each winding turn and foot blistering step.
What journeys will they take part upon, what destiny do they both hold, What tragic fate splits them apart...
Lets find out next time...
