He breathes.
The air, both sooty and delicious, fills his lungs, and he is reminded of his humanity. He will die one day, and, if there is a kind god, he is going to hell.
Yet he can somehow move about in his shadowy apartment and continue with his murderous activities. Is it apathy that allows him to "live"? Is it disbelief?
He tries not to think of his reservation in hell too often, but the thought often whips his scarred back.
"Hell, hell, hell, Sweeney Todd; you are going to hell," some voice whispers in his ear.
"I know," he occasionally replies. "I know."
But most of the time, he remains silent, unrepentant. Yes, he's going to hell, but he's going to have a hell of a grand time getting there.
She breathes.
The air, both warm and bloody, fills her lungs, and she is reminded of the thin blade in her heart. She will die of heartbreak one day, and, if there is a kind god, she is going to die soon.
She loves him. Deeply so. And how she hates that terrible, deep love! How she wishes she could revert to the shallow, blind infatuation that she felt for Mister Barker. To have an infatuation is to blatantly ignore all flaws, and you see the world in the rose-tinted glasses.
But to love, to deeply love, as she does for him, is to accept everything. Acceptance of flaws, acceptance of lifestyle, acceptance of beliefs. To love deeply is to be blind. You fumble about your day, unable to see the beauties of this world, and then, he or she comes close to you. And you can see. He or she glows brilliantly- a star in a midnight sky- and you cannot tear your eyes away from his or her beautiful face. He or she speaks; you have never heard such music! He or she is troubled; you find a strength that can be compared to the gods to solve any problem.
You cannot live without him or her.
And she despises dependence.
She is dependent on him, so she despises herself.
"Just kill me," she asks God in her prayers. But she imagines that God only smiles at her requests.
"Just you wait," He might say to her in her dreams.
Should I make this a book?
I'm better at oneshots…..
Reviews would be nice.
