"Tell me about the town again, Becky." I say, sitting down at the table in our small camper and pulling my cup of warm tea towards me.

"It's tiny. Probably the smallest town you'll ever live to see. But it's wonderful."

I smiled as my sister described to me the place that I had waited so long to see. My name is Rory Ferrell, and this is the story of how I came to know Arnie Grape.

My sister Becky came to Endora last summer with my grandmother. For fifty years, my grandma's travel buddy was always Joe, my grandpa. But, when he passed away last May, my grandma planned to cancel her annual trip she loved so much, so Becky stepped up to keep her company. Here is where she met Gilbert and Arnie Grape. As she describes it, she was taken with Gilbert the second she saw him. I envied this. At 18 years old, I had never been in love, had a boyfriend, or had even been kissed. But, the first town grandma and Becky roll into, she finds her soul mate.

When I was invited to make this years trip, I hesitated to agree. I didn't want to hang around Becky and Gilbert the whole time. I'd just be a third wheel, and grandma always liked to do her own thing. I didn't want to spend the whole trip alone. Then, Becky told me about Gilbert's younger brother, Arnie.

"He's such a free spirit, Rory. And such a joy to be around." Becky said, as we passed a road sign that said "Welcome to Endora. Enjoy your stay!"

"He sounds like fun. I can't wait to meet him." I got up, grabbed my shoes, and headed to the front to wait for Grandma to park the truck and let us out of the camper.

"Wait, there's one thing you should know. Arnie's a little...er...different."

I laughed. "Well, so are we. I'm sure it'll be okay." I jumped out the second we came to a stop.

"Rory, wait!" Becky called after me, but I was already out of earshot. "Well, here goes nothing."
