Steel Does Not Break

The thin line between love and hate is a tight rope walk. One slip and you're off—either completely into love or completely into hate. With Bellatrix Black, there was only the tight rope walk. She didn't believe in having a heart; a heart made you weak, vulnerable. Who needed to be that? After all when a heart broke it often fell into a million little pieces—and try as you might, but there is no putting back together something, that shattered. She knew this. She was this. Her thoughts often centered on what had happened between them, him, the reason she was shattered. It had all happened so quickly that she wasn't even sure what had occurred. One minute she was his dirty little secret, the next, his weapon; a perfectly fashioned dagger, born of the hardest steal, the most precious metal. She didn't want to be his weapon, she wanted to be more, but she did not deny him anything: Her virginity, his; her body, his; her soul, his; her innocence, his. What did she want to be to him exactly? She wasn't quite sure. He was a man nearly the same age as her father, but he was powerful, enticing, and exciting. His power pervaded her, but her thirst for him corrupted her more. The ring she wore upon her left hand meant nothing, but the mark she wore on her forearm meant everything—he meant everything. She loved him, but hated him for making her love him. Admitting to her love, she vowed never to do. Instead, she hid it, deep inside her, causing her heart to shatter, piece by piece. When he left her, she shook it off, well at least on the outside she did. The hole in her heart and the shattering pieces she could not hid from herself. Instead she dug deeper, fought harder, and hated more fiercely; turning what was once a million pieces into something that barely beat. Steel. Steel did not have a pulse, steel did not have feelings, and most importantly, steel did not shatter.

A/N: Okay, I have no clue where this came from. I was avoiding my math project and this was the end result. I have no clue what it means or why I wrote it. Obviously it's Bella centered. Mainly, I guess, it's her feelings on being in love with some one who does not return it. And Yes, I did say virginity. In this I imagined that he did take and that she's been in love with him ever since. Anyways, I'm rambling now. Enjoy and reviews are love!
