Title: Heat, Therapy and a little bit of Goldilocks

Author: JustCallMeDaisy

Pairing: Mentions of Jeff/Britta and Jeff/Slater but mainly Jeff/Annie

It was 100 degrees outside and Jeff couldn't sleep. It had been an unusually warm winter and after two hours of restless tossing and turning he decided to give up and except that he wasn't going asleep anytime soon. Unfortunately or him it meant all the things he'd spent months trying to push to the back of his mind came bouncing up to the front. He thought about his first year at Greendale and ho wit hadn't been as horrific as he was expecting, despite the fact everyone there were more kinds of crazy than he'd ever represented in his whole career. He thought about the Tranny Dance and what a mess it had turned into. He knew he should've called her but he couldn't. She was Annie…young, sweet, innocent, young Annie and he felt terrible. It was making him think and he didn't like that. Should he start growing up or should he try to accept that that this is who he'll always be? Abed once mentioned something about character growth and the main characters development being important for a series. This was Abed though and life wasn't tv. If it was things would be easier, he wouldn't feel guilt for not doing the right thing, or at least that was how he'd always imagined tv life was.

He thought about the first girl he ever liked, Jenna Accard, in 7th grade. He gave her a cookie and she stomped all over his heart by sharing it with Toby Flint. He hated that guy. He blamed her for the way he was now – and his mother. He didn't really blame her too; he just told his therapist that. She wasn't a proper therapist, one of those crappy ones you were ordered to go to by the state after he had a very small breakdown following his disbarment. Turned out Annie wasn't the only one who was a few fruit loops short of a bowl of cereal before she arrived at Greendale. He only went to the second session because she was hot. She told him he had women issues and that being disappointed by female figures early on in life left him with a shattered view of what women were really like. She believed all he needed was to find the right girl. Seriously? Didn't everyone say that, psychology degree or not? And it wasn't like he was going to take advice from someone who slept with their patients' right after telling them they were emotionally damaged.

Somehow he got back to thinking about the Transfer Formal and how his relationships were all a mess. In between the nameless girls he'd hooked up with and forgotten during his year at college there were the three that stood out.

Slater was smart, sexy and passionate. Being with her was great, especially when it was a secret and even after they were found out it worked well until she dumped him. There was something about her that wasn't right though even when she wanted him back.

Britta was cool, hot and a buzz kill – but fun. What made it even better was she was his friend. Being with her was easy and comfortable but like Michelle she wasn't so good at the commitment.

The there was Annie cute, doe-eyed, sexy-in-her-own-way Annie who was like his very own Disney Princess on adderal. She helped make him into a better person while letting him be himself at the same time.

Slater was too hot.

Britta was too cold.

But Annie was just right.
