"Do you mind if I take your place for a second?" Barney asked as he put two tumblers with scotch on the table in front of Max.

Bot Max and Robin looked up confused, but after looking back and forth from Barney to Robin and back, he decided to give in.

"I'll crab another drink at the bar and see what Ted has been up to." Max said as he got up.

"What are you doing?" Robin asked as Barney sat down across from her.

He slid one of the tumblers to her and explained, "congratulate you to your victory."

"Yeah right." She replied but took the scotch.

"I've also thought about what you said earlier?"

"What, carrots and peas?" Robin asked.

"No, that the city is rejecting you."

"Look, I get it, you don't want to hear me whine about things, it's fine. But could you please not interfere with my date just because you feel sorry now?"

"Your date?" Barney asked amused.

"Max and I were really hitting it off."

"Please, don't waste your time on Max. He has a tiny penis."

"What?" Robin asked surprised.

"Usually I wouldn't speak of such things but as your bro I want to spare you from the disappointment, Max is the opposite of well endowed. You wouldn't enjoy yourself, trust me."

"How do you even know that?"

"We dated, remember? I know what you are into and how much you like a thick…"

"That Max has a small penis." Robin interrupted him.

"We both work out at the company gym, and hence sometimes are in the shower room together." Barney explained.

Robin sighed, "what do you want?"

He hesitated a second, glancing over to the bar to make sure that neither Ted nor Max were going to come over anytime soon.

"I thought about what you said Robin."

"Barney you don't have to pretend to care, I get it."

"Will you just stop that?" He interjected, "you know that you are important to me."

Robin didn't say anything and instead took a sip of her drink.

"Look, my company is sending me on a three week business trip. Singapore, North Korea, and Hong Kong and I think you should quit your job and come with me."

"What?" Robin almost spit her drink out.

"It's evident that you need a break, and this would be a great opportunity."

"I can't just quit my job, besides, it's a horrible idea for us to go on a three week trip together."

"You aren't happy there anymore Robin, it's not New York that's rejecting you, it's you letting that job drag you down. You need a fresh start, and a break from all this. Besides, you always talk about travelling more, right?"

"Barney, I can't just quit, it's not that easy."

"Except it is. My company is paying for all the hotel rooms anyway, so all you need are the flights and some expenses for food, but let's face it, I usually pick up the tap when we are out together anyways so you don't really have to worry about that either."

"Barney you know this would end badly." She whispered.

"Why?"

"We'd hook up. And I don't think our friendship would survive another break-up."

"I'm not proposing this trip as a way to get into your pants Robin." He whispered.

"I know you aren't, but it's inevitable."

"Well, maybe we just need to go and find out what will happen."

She looked at him, but he really was dead serious so she finally nodded, "okay, let's do it."

And that kids, is the story of how uncle Barney got aunt Robin to quit her job and travel with him.

As you know, they did hook up and, away from all of us, they somehow figured out a way to be truly happy with each other, which is why that conversation marks the beginning of their life spend together.
