A White Dwarf's job is rather easy, really.
They would give the Infantile Galaxy they were assigned the main outline of their duties as a warrior and guardian of the stars; all while strengthening their combat skills and spirit to boot. While the White Dwarf position is usually known as a mentorship role, there are rare cases where they would assume the role of a Guardian Angel; protecting the infantile galaxy with their lives when it came to the most dire of situations.
The new galaxy was always the beacon of hope for all of the stars in the universe. If something bad were to happen to that youthful galaxy, the universe itself would be in shambles.
This White Dwarf in particular however, wasn't the best at this rarely assigned "Guardian Angel" role. He winds up getting saved more times by this young galaxy than he saves him! It was almost like they shared a mutual protection pact; the White Dwarf protects the Infantile Galaxy when he needs it most while the Infantile Galaxy, in turn, does the same for the White Dwarf.
None of the warriors of the past encountered a bond this peculiar. Even the current White Dwarf didn't share a bond like this with his mentor from the days of old. The bonds between White Dwarfs and New Galaxies are forged from respect. But this was the first bond that was forged with something with a power much greater than respect: It was a bond forged from love.
The White Dwarf has pondered the reasoning behind it for months on end, eventually drawing a conclusion to the Young Galaxy's age.
The New Galaxy was two-thousand years old when the White Dwarf first encountered him. The New Galaxy woke up far too early, earlier than the stars anticipated. Swiftly assigning the White Dwarf to this infant, with the role of guardianship unanimously bestowed to him from the stars.
It was both a blessing and a curse.
The Galaxy was a hassle to protect, always sticking his nose in places he shouldn't of. But fortunately for the White Dwarf that tiredly followed this child's antics, the infant learned very quickly.
In fact, a bit too quickly, by his surprise.
The Young Galaxy was beyond strong for his age, perhaps even stronger than the White Dwarf that raised him. He showed empathy towards the earth dwellers on the planet the two lived on and to earth dwellers on planets far, far away. And he showed loads of it.
The White Dwarf knew that the universe was in great hands because of it. And The infant, albeit too young to assume the role still, was already a fine paladin for the stars that made him.
And as long as the glow remained in the White Dwarf's eyes, he vowed to protect every single twinkle that resided in the Young Galaxy. Even if he wasn't the best at it.
It didn't matter.
It was a promise. Not only to the stars in the sky, but the stars that made up the young warriors innocent eyes.
