Why Do You Love Me?
One day in New York, specifically, Alphabet City - Avenue B, Roger Davis and Mimi Marquez were lying in bed, doing none other than cuddling.
"Why do you love me?" Mimi asked.
"If I had an answer then it wouldn't be love, would it?" he replied without doubt.
Mimi smiled.
"You're such a nerd!"
"You're ruining the moment, Meems!"
"Yeah that's my job."
They shared a kiss, small but sweet, just like their second. Mimi closed her eyes and drifted back to that unforgettable moment.
Roger and Mimi stepped out into that cold, winter night. The snow gently fell blanketing the ground in a soft wisp of white. He took her hands in his and together they walked through the dim alley. Not a single soul was out that solemn night. Roger could see Mimi's bright eyes glistening with the pale moonlight. And at that moment, he instantly knew that she was the one thing he'd been missing all his life. Despite the range of emotions burning within him, he could simply do nothing but to stare at his feet.
Mimi stole a glance at Roger and the halo of snowflakes in his dirty-blond hair. She chuckled softly and smiled, serenity washing over her. He made her forget all the problems and sickness.
Roger's soft words penetrated the silence.
"Mimi, I…should tell you… I'm sorry, I'm such a wreck. I don't know how to say this..."
She held back a smile and brushed traces of snow off her shoulders.
"Let's just make this part go faster 'cause I've yet to be in it."
And they both gazed at each other with easeful eyes as they revealed confessions to each other.
"Truthfully," Mimi began, smiling, "I blew the candle out just so I could stay with you that night."
"Well, I've forgotten how to smile since that candle of yours burnt my skin." Roger said, blushing at the fact.
They came closer and held each other lovingly.
"Who knows?"
"Here we go."
At that moment, it felt as if nothing else mattered. They were immersed in the trust, wisdom and understanding they now shared. So under that December moon, they shared a real kiss. A kiss genuinely knowing that they were meant for each other.
Mimi smiled at the memory once more, burying her face in the crook of Roger's neck.
"Seriously Rog, why do you love me?"
Roger looked at the woman beside him, the one who held all his heart, his soul and his love.
"I'm disaster; I forget how to begin it."
Mimi chuckled making Roger grin as well.
"Let's just make this go faster!"
She pulled Roger close and kissed him.
'Twas small and sweet, just like their second.
