A/N: Okay, you guys know I'm a VxM shipper. But this was fun to write. So there. :P R&R please!

"I'm sorry, Meryl."

The small dark-haired girl stood in the street, fists clenched. Her whole body was shuddering in agony. Her nails dug into her palms as tears started to stain the dusty road. "Why?" she whispered.

"I'm dangerous. You know that. I'm ancient and stupid and..."

"And I don't care! I don't care one bit! I've been waiting...I've been waiting so long, Vash. I can take care of myself. Don't you dare pity me!"

"I know. I'm not."

"Then why?" She glared up at him, only to be met with a hidden gaze. She wanted to rip the sunglasses off his face and stamp them into the dust.

"I'm not human. You are. You age. You die. I don't. I can't live with that."

"You idiot." More tears spilled out, flowing freely down her face. "You complete MORON!" She reared back and punched him square in the stomach, as hard as she could muster. He didn't flinch. She stood there, fist still against his middle, all her weight leaning against him. "You...moron..." she whispered, before finally sinking to her knees into unconsciousness.
