Just a short piece that my muse felt needed to be written. For all you Higurashi fans out there that love Rika as much as I do (though Rena is life). If you know any good Higurashi fics please let me know! I've always been too afraid to wade through fics that didn't interest me to find amazing ones.
Rika died.
And then she woke up. She tried to forget the scary the dream -the one that had been so realistic it took her a week to realize that she was writing the date wrong at school. She eventually was able to forget, until it happened again.
Rika talked.
The second time it happened, Rika tried to get help. She talked to her parents, and then the doctors, and then the psychologists. She wasn't old enough to realize they were doing, but it didn't matter. Rika died just the same.
Rika screamed.
Talking hadn't gotten her anywhere, but screaming accomplished even less.
Rika cried.
She didn't bother speaking to her parents anymore- she knew they would just die anyway. Her heart ached. She should be about 12 years old now. Had she really been suffering for four years already?
Rika prayed.
And could barely believe her eyes when Oyashiro-sama answered her prayers.
Rika planned.
With Hanyuu's help, Rika tried to take the reins back from fate. If she couldn't do it with a god on her side, than it couldn't be done at all.
Rika despaired.
There was something missing. She and Hanyuu both knew it. A key to the lock that was this cursed prison she had been tossed in. But the key wasn't here, and without it, Rika would never be free. They were running out of time.
Rika hoped.
Keiichi was different. She was wary of him at first, but she couldn't shake the thought that kept creeping back: could he be the key?
Rika realized.
She had been pushing everyone away for so long. She didn't even know how old she was anymore, but Keiichi didn't care. He just wanted them all to be friends, no matter how painful the end was. Forcing herself to be independent for so long, she had forgotten that her friends were right beside her. Together, maybe it was possible.
Rika schemed.
Every life brought her closer to her last, but it also brought Keiichi closer to her side. He seemed to understand more and more. Could they really do it?
Rika fought.
With every last breath, they fought together, and she and her friends were victorious.
Rika lived.
With all of her friends beside her.
