Mary sat there alone
With no one around,
When suddenly an angel
From the heavens came down.
He smiled at her
And said to the ma'am,
"God needs you, Mary,
For a really big plan.
"He'll send His son
To the face of the Earth,
And wants you, my dear,
To give the Boy birth."
"But how can this happen?"
She asked. "How can this be?"
The angel replied, "Wait my dear girl,
And soon you will see."
Mary went to Joseph,
And told him what's to come.
Soon, they got married and
Went to Bethlehem.
The inns in the town to
Hold more people, they weren't able.
The only place the two could stay
Was in a dirty stable.
Then baby Jesus was born!
In a manger He lay.
The animals were noisy
As He slept on the hay.
In some nearby fields
Were shepherds and their sheep.
It was getting real late,
And they were falling asleep.
An angel came forth
And frightened the boys.
She said, "Don't be scared,
For I have great news of joy!
"A baby was born!
Our Savior! Our King!"
With that, she and her friends
Began to sing.
They sang of the Lord
And shouted, "AMEN!"
Then the shepherds went
To see the boy in Bethlehem.
There were three wise men
Who lived not very far.
One night they saw
A mysterious star.
This strange star just appeared;
It shone day and night.
So onto their camels
They followed the light.
Journeying far,
The Messiah they sought.
Gold, frankincense, and myrrh
Were gifts that they brought.
The wise men and shepherds
Knew the Child they praised,
Just as God told them,
Would grow up to save.
Up to this day
We all celebrate
The Son that he sent
On that Christmas Day.
A/N: Here are some Christmas fun facts from the movie Saving Christmas:
1. In Jesus' time, stables were caves and mangers were made of stone, not wood.
2. You all know another name for Santa Claus: Saint Nicholas! He was a man in the first or second century who was serious about Jesus, and every Christmas, he gave joy to the children in the village.
3. When we are kids, our parents tell the birth of baby Jesus as something happy. Well, it is happy, but when King Herod heard Jesus was a king, he ordered his soldiers to kill every baby boy in Bethlehem under two years. This is something our parents don't tell us as young kids.
4. Ever wonder why we put up Christmas trees in our home? Remember the first sin? Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the one tree God told them not to eat from: the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. They took the fruit without God's permission and ate it. The fruit wasn't theirs, which means they stole it. When we steal something, we are required to return it, but because they ate it, they would've had to put themselves on the tree. Jesus did just that when he died on the cross, since wood comes from trees. The trees we put up are also evergreen trees, representing everlasting life with Jesus.
5. We don't actually know when Jesus' birthday is. The reason we celebrate it on Christmas in the winter near the Winter Solstice is to represent the hope in such a dark time.
Well, Merry Christmas everyone! God bless!
