Halloween Ball

Pairing: D/G

Ginny ran a hand through her fiery hair, twirling a loose end around a finger as she laughed at something Luna said. She laughed freely and loudly without restraint, her head flung back, her body trembling, and her mouth wide open flashing white teeth.

She was leaning against Parvati, using her as support since she couldn't breathe. Hermione was on her other side, barely able to stand up properly. Ginny wiped at her teary eyes and damp freckled cheeks, sighing deeply to slow her breathing.

That's when he called out to her.

"Oy, Red!" he said loudly from across the room. She spun around, startled.

"What?" She yelled back, starting to feel annoyed. It was just like him to ruin her good mood. Couldn't he see that she was busy?

He was walking - no, strutting - towards her now, looking impeccably put together and drop dead gorgeous as usual. She could have sworn she saw the heads of all the girls (and some boys) turn as he walked past, as if trying to smell his spicy scent in the air. He held something in his hands, a bundle of cloth it looked like, and had a smirk on his pale, god-like face.

"I need a date for the ball. Since you'll be going with a Slytherin, you should wear this," he told her suddenly, thrusting the bundle into her arms. He didn't even stop in front of her for a moment; he kept on walking at his cocky, slow pace.

Ginny sputtered, cheeks reddening, shoulders heaving, and looking very much like her brother Ron. She stared at his back until it was gone and then looked down in her hands.

She was holding a dress. A very pretty velvet dress in a deep forest green.

"Fine Draco," she muttered to herself angrily, ignoring the shocked faces of her female friends around her. "But I'm wearing gold jewelry."
