The child without a name grew up to be the hand
To watch you, to shield you or kill on demand
The choice he'd made he could not comprehend
His blood a grim secret they had to command
He's torn between his honour and the true love of his life
He prayed for both but was denied

Aragorn was in doubt, wondering about his past, his present and what lay ahead in his future. One day, he might have to be King of Gondor and rule over all of those people. How could he ever do that, he had just grown up a Ranger and learned nothing about ruling an entire population. He wasn't even sure of the decisions he made for himself, let alone if he had to make decisions that could cost lives of innocent people. Then there was the great war they would first have to win from Sauron and Saruman. It would be a miracle if they would all survive and if Frodo would manage to destroy the Ring. After that, he would be the one with all the power. Still, there was Arwen…

The curse of his powers tormented his life
Obeying the crown was a sinister price
His soul was tortured by love and by pain
He surely would flee but the oath made him stay
He's torn between his honour and the true love of his life
He prayed for both but was denied

Aragorn could feel himself shiver at the thought of what could happen to Arwen. She could, by then already be gone, sailing away from the Grey Havens. She could die now he had the Evenstar and the days were growing darker. Then there was Elrond, from who he knew was totally against their relationship. The last barrier would be his mortality, and her immortality, which would once leave her to be all alone in Middle-Earth. The only thing he could give her was pain, sorrow, loneliness and uncertainty. Perhaps Elrond was even right that they didn't belong together. But his love for her was growing ever stronger…

Please forgive me for the sorrow
For leaving you in fear
For the dreams we had to silence
That's all they'll ever be
Still I'll be the hand that serves you
Though you will not see that it is me

Maybe, very maybe, there might come a time when everything would be fine and Arwen would be mine…
