"Sjin..."
That day, all alone on the farm, I came face to face with my own future. It came to me in a bloody and scarred limp. My own dark face staring back at me. "Who are you?"
He gripped his arm and breathed with great complication. His voice raspy and worn out. "My name is Sjin... You're not going to believe me, I know, but I'm you from the future..."
"What?" I breathed out even though the evidence was there for me to see. My eyes, my face, my voice...
"We don't have much time. Just listen to me." He coughed horribly before shaking it off. "You need to go back to Sipsco. If you don't, everything will happen again."
My eyes widened curiously. "What will happen again?"
"A disaster!" He exclaimed, coughing more and more. "I went back to see Sips and got caught up in some sort of explosion. I don't know the cause, but Sips was caught in it too..." His eyes lowered in pain and mourning. "I don't know what happened to him after that. I found myself here...Holding on to what is left of me..." He fell silent as if he was thinking over something before quickly looking back up. "Whatever has happened, it's clear that you can still save him. Please... Please, save Sips!"
He could have been lying, right? I could have been losing my mind. It was strange, but I answered his plea with a nervous nod before dropping everything and running towards the compound. I glanced back as he was leaving my field of vision. Maybe I was crazy because he seemed to turn to dust and fall away like he was never there.
Step after step, my feet carried me straight to the boat that carried me to the shores of my old work place. Stepping onto the sand, everything seemed fine. Everything was just how I left it. Nothing was wrong... at least not at this second. "Sips!"
I walked towards the pool that we rarely used and looked right to left. It was empty top side so I made my way to the sorting facility to hear the sounds of movement. I should have guessed that he would be down below as he loved to be before.
As I moved closer, a loud bang startled me and made my heart race. In a panic, I started to scream out for him, only to be blinded by an intense light. Before I knew what had happened, I opened my eyes to find myself bleeding and badly injured... standing on my own farm.
Not too far away, I could see another me standing on the farm. All of a sudden, I realized that I was looking at the me from only minutes ago and that I was now the broken Sjin who needed to warn me again. It was confusing, and there was no explanation to what had just happened. All I knew is I needed to repeat what I had told myself in the past.
"Sjin..." I said to him. I triggered the same conversation like some kind of game. The same words were said. I warned and begged him to save Sips in the same way I had been told. He nodded as I knew he would and left me there. As I wished for him to make it, I felt my body shift strangely. I looked to my hands to see myself turning to dust. It was time to experience the fall away and I welcomed it.
"Sjin..."
Oh god. I see my bloody face again. I am the simple farmer. I'm being warned again. I run to save him. I'm blinded, and I deliver the warning. Once again, I fall away. Repeat. Repeat. I can't save him. I'm stuck in a infinite loop. My warning is useless. Repeat. Repeat. I can't save him. The warning won't save him. Fall away. Repeat. Repeat. How many times now? Make it stop. Save Sips. Please save him. The warning... the warning... the warning can't save him.
A/N: It feels great to write about Sips and Sjin again, and of course, I return to them with a really depressing story. Oh well. Thank you for reading. I've heard that reviewing will save you from being stuck in an infinite loop. ;D
