The first day had mostly been a lot of greetings, and Luke catching up on the events of the war. He didn't know much of what had happened, he had, after all, secluded himself nearly right after it started. So she told him about Finn, and how he got her into a lot of trouble with the First Order, and how they escaped on the Falcon. Luke kind of snorted in recognition of the old ship. Then how they were captured by the First Order, but it was really just Han, and that they hid under the floor. At this point, Luke had a hard time suppressing a chuckle. Rey hesitated, she'd expected him to be much more rigid, but he simply explained that he had used the same hiding spot many years ago. So, Rey continued, on to Maz Kanata's watering hole, and being captured, and finally ended the story with Finn's crazy escape plan, Han's death, and her final duel with Kylo Ren.

Luke raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You defeated Ben?"

"You mean Ren? Yes, but a chasm opened up between us before I could make sure he was dead."

Luke nodded. "Impressive. Of course, the chasm may have been for the best. I believe that we could probably pull him back to the Light Side with a little bit of an effort. It is a shame about Han dying though."

Rey nodded. "He was the father I never had."

"I understand. My father was named Anakin, better known to you as Darth Vader. He turned to the dark side right after I was born."

Rey remembered Vader from Ren's mind. "I think that's why Ren is doing all of this. He wants to live up to the standards that Vader set."

"He does not remember that Anakin returned to the Light in the end. If he's doing this as a way to be like his grandfather, he's going to be in for a nasty surprise."

Rey was silent. There wasn't much more for her to say.

Luke sensed this, saying, "Why don't you take the time to go exploring around the island a little?"

Rey took the opportunity to leave, so she stood, nodded, and headed back down the steps to the next clearing below.
