Taking a Break

It was a splendid April day, sunny for once. The sky was a brilliant blue without a cloud in sight and the trees in the Forbidden Forest were starting to bud with leaves. The Hogwarts castle rose up majestically, silhouetted against the mountains. Luna adored the view of the castle from far away. It seemed to her that the closer one got to it, the less, well, magical it seemed. Rather like chasing Snorkacks she mused.

No one else appreciated magic like Luna did. Poor souls, they just didn't understand the illogical beauty of something that mortals were only meant to brush true knowledge of. She waved her wand, idly causing a feather dropped by some owl to draw pictures in the air. To Luna, the goal of a magician was to be an artist and somewhere along the line, science stopped and instinct began.

She got up off the grass and twirled around a bit, smiling. She skipped back to the castle, letting out small snippets of a tune she could only half remember. Back to Neville and Ginny and the DA. Back to a harder world.

It had felt so good to let go of real life, if only for a bit. The Wandering Wimblebats were really the most wonderful companions.

A/N: This is my first, tentative foray into writing and feedback would really be appreciated. Let me know what to work on? Thank you for reading.
