Disclaimer: I don't own Alex Rider nor will I ever own him sadly.
Alex Rider had snuck out again. He had been released from the hospital just a couple days ago after being shot by a sniper from Scorpia. He was supposed to be resting but instead when Jack thought he was asleep in his room for the day he snuck out to school and soccer practice.
Back at home Jack didn't suspect a thing. Jack had long since trusted Alex and he gave her specific orders to not come in his room while he was recovering because he was asleep. She had no idea that he had snuck out every day since he got back from the hospital.
Alex had found small ways to lighten the weight of his backpack. He knew he couldn't strain his chest. He had to be especially careful in gym. Luckily they were playing soccer and weren't doing something like climbing the rope.
"Hey Alex are you playing at the soccer game tonight?" The coach asked.
Alex nodded and ran onto the field to start the game. His team was up and his chest was forgotten. It was burning dully but it was nothing to worry about. Alex was completely focused on the game.
The coach put Alex in goalie position for his team. If Alex had been thinking about his chest he may have protested but he eagerly accepted. One of the boys from the other team was dribbling the ball up the field fast. Alex prepared for a goal attempt. He saw the boy kick it and the ball flashed through the air.
Alex was ready but the ball came at an angle that he had not anticipated. It came and hit him right in the spot he was shot. The ball deflected off his body but Alex fell. The wound burnt so bad it felt like it was on fire. Alex didn't even cry out. The breath was knocked out of him as soon as he hit the ground. He clutched his chest in pain and moaned.
A confused coach and teammates ran up to him. Blood was seeping through his shirt from his split stitches. At the sight of blood the coach sent a student running back to the school to call 911. The coach pulled off his shirt to take a look at the wound. The blood had seeped through the bandages. "Alex what is this I thought you were out of school to get your appendix removed?" the coach asked. From the look in his eye the coach knew Alex didn't want to tell him. "Alex we need to know what this wound is from and how serious it is?" the coach asked with concern.
Alex gasped in pain as he tried to speak. "I was shot by a sniper." Alex managed to gasp out. The class gasped. The same nurse that had helped him to the hospital the last time showed up this time. "Alex you're supposed to be at home!" the nurse said in surprise as the ambulance drove away. I'm in so much trouble Alex thought. There would be Jack whose trust he would lose and MI6 who would be mad at him for ignoring doctor's orders. He was in for a lot after his position was stable.
