She stared down at the little, fluffy thing and his pink, wriggling nose through eyes full of horror. She wanted to scream. She ached to run, but to whom would she run? The being before her was her whole world. She didn't want to be a vengeance Demon. She didn't want to be just plain, ordinary Anya Christina Emmanuella Jenkins. She didn't really care much about saving the world. She just wanted to be Mrs. Alexander Lavelle Harris, and now, to do that, she was going to have to face her greatest fear.
She tried not to shake as she bent down. She tried not to let her fear show, but she knew he knew was terrified. It was all she could do not to run. It had been easier even to kill all those frat boys and face their bodies than to touch this quivering animal.
But she did it. She pulled together all of her courage and upon all of years wrecking vengeance to handle this one moment as she picked up the bunny and held it out before her. "Xander," she questioned exasperatedly, proud that her voice did not shake, "what Demon did you date this time?!"
The End
