A/N: I'm sick, so I decided to post a gift for my friend Paperback_Avenger here including her OC Peyton. Enjoy, guys.

Loki glared at the offending cold remedy syrup that sat on his daughter's end table. The fourteen year old had gotten sick over the weekend, and now she was coughing and hacking like there was no tomorrow.

"Okay, love, just one spoonful and I think we'll be okay for today! Okay?", Stephen asked.

Peyton weakly nodded. Loki sighed in relief when she finally took the damned medicine. They had been trying to get her to drink it since this morning. Now they could get-

Another coughing attack had Loki tensing up fast, ready to rush at his husband's side. Stephen held up his hand to stop Loki from rushing over.

"Loki, I need you to get the bucket, okay?"

Loki rushed to do as his husband asked. But it was pretty clear that was all he was needed for as Stephen yanked the bucket out of his hands as soon as Loki reached the door. So he just stood there, wondering what to do now that Peyton was in pretty capable hands. The god felt quite useless when it came to mortal stuff, his knowledge of it was very limited. He knew that she was sick, and that she was now falling asleep after her tiring ordeal. Stephen made his way over, seeing his partner's forlorn face.

"What's wrong with you?"

"I don't know what to do…"

"Huh?", Stephen was very interested now. Hs partner had never so freely admitted helplessness before, this was new.

"You are mortal, like her…", Loki cast another look at their slumbering daughter, "You are...equipped to handle these things. I am not.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm doing the right thing by being in her life at all! I am not the best role model and if your not here while she gets sick next time or even a broken bone or bruise I woul-"

Stephen put a finger on his love's lips.

"Shhh. Don't talk like that, pet. You know as well as I that you more than anyone can teach a child how to chose the right path in life even if they feel lost. You'll get better in practice, trust me! In humans this sort of thing happens all th-ACHOO!"

Stephen suddenly sneezed, surprising both him and his husband.

"Oh my~ Stephen , are you sick now?", Loki purred.

Stephen mumbled a polite 'shut up' before being led to his bedroom by a very bemused god.
