IMPORTANT!

AUTHOR'S NOTE(1): Oook, before you read and scratch your heads in confusion, let me just clarify that this is inspired by an incredibly breathtaking AU fanfic entitled, "Broken Pieces," which is authored by Linay. I'm reading it again, for who knows how many times already. I'm telling you, it's simply sensational! I highly recommend it! It's published here in FFiction, if you must know.

(2) Well, aside from BP, the other thing that motivated me to write this was the heavy traffic jam. This is what happens when I'm stuck somewhere and there's a light drizzle around me.

(3) Rurouni Kenshin, and the characters in here aren't mine, as well as the "story" behind this poem. They're Nobuhiro Watsuki's and Linay's, respectively. And besides, I don't have the creativity to create such, so yeah... LOL

BROKEN

"Don't do this." The voice came raspy and dry.

It was not an order, not a command.

As he almost choked on this tearless cry,

His amber orbs swiveled to her scarred hand.

.

"I love you." The three words tormented him.

In the past weeks, he has tasted heaven,

But now his eyes, vision began to dim.

Then, he was just nothing but forsaken.

.

"What about us?" And the world was a blur.

The dark, damp alley seemed to trap his soul.

He wished for death to come in a hurry.

Weakened, desperate, he'd never be whole.

.

"Thank you for everything," she said smiling,

That sad smile, which had captured his being.

His heart felt numb for her tears were falling.

Not forgiven, for what he was seeing.

.

"I won't forget you; I refuse." Begging,

The manslayer gave not a space for shame.

She shook her head; heavy was his breathing.

Out of words, he pleadingly spoke her name.

.

"Kaoru." Her ideals, her innocence,

Her perfection, her blue eyes, her kisses…

On his forehead came her fingers' presence

And Kenshin's world lay shattered in pieces.

PS: Err… but I hope this poem wouldn't spoil the ending. ^^; And thanks for reading. :P
