AN: I absolutely adored this idea when I thought of it, so let me know what you think. I've been bombarded with school work since September and my mock exams start in two weeks so my inspiration ran dry, but seeing as I'm starting to write a short story, I'll have find some somewhere.
Thank you for reading! :3
"Will I be happy?" Natsu whispered to himself and he stared at his reflection, nervously pulling at his tie. He turned when he heard the door open, revealing Jude Heartfillia. Seeing the nervousness in his eyes, Jude gave him a small smile.
"Mind sitting down with me for a minute?" Jude gestured to the couch in the centre of the room and when they were seated he gave Natsu a stern look. "As you know, Natsu, my wife Layla died when Lucy was only a little girl, but the funny thing about Layla was that she always planned ahead. Before she died Layla gave me this letter and she told me to give it to Lucy's significant other on their wedding day." He chuckled, taking a white envelope out of his jacket pocket, handing it to Natsu. "Which is today, as you know."
Natsu took the envelope and stared at it in awe. This, in his mind, is something akin to meeting her mother and it set a fire ablaze in his chest.
He tenderly opened the envelope and slid out the contents, as he did this he felt Jude get up and leave.
To the person my daughter will marry,
if you are reading this then my little girl is getting married. Even though I'm not there, I know that Lucy has made the right decision. I know that as long as you treat her well and love her with all your heart, I give you my blessing.
Layla Heartfillia
Natsu huffed out a breath as he read the last word. He didn't know where to start! He was chuffed to say in the least, but now he knew. He knew that this wasn't a mistake. Any doubt that had stirred in his mind vanished completely and he felt more confident than he had during his life thus far.
There was a knock on the door, which came with the announcement: "everything's ready flame brain! You better hurry your ass up, or I'll drag you out by the tie!"
With a small chuckle, Natsu paced over to the mirror and straightened his tie. Giving his reflection a small smile, he put Layla's letter in his suits inner pocket, gave it a pat and strode out the door.
He was about to become a very happy man indeed.
